So I'm new, I know I'm way ahead of my self, but how do I start a faction? I could get 10 people on here in the next 2 weeks, so I've got the manpower, and I've got a few ship ideas and a character planned out, so I guess I will

Now its been edited. Hope its better

and the FAQ's a little sketchy and needs spruced up with more info

Yes, we wrote them with 'reading' in mind. Not quick browsing. If you are browsing, the rules will seem confusing and think they need sprucing up more.

how do I start a faction?

FAQ:

Groups are an extension of a Character. If in your storylines you desire to conquer worlds, or extend trade routes, you must form a Group. This is done by posting in the OOC forum with the Character who will own the group, giving some details about the group, links to its forming Role Play, as well as information about its affiliation.

All groups will receive one public forum in the Groups & Factions subforum section on the TRF board. If the group grows larger, and gains members (additional players, not just Characters) additional forums can be added as the need grows. This public forum can be used for communication (private communication should be done via PM), as well as for record keeping (planets owned, perhaps a map if you should so wish, a list of past role-plays, and other such things).

Groups can own planets. A group can own (or control) an unlimited amount of planets. Planets are captured by writing a role-play of at least 5000 words and then posting in the Planets List to claim said planet.

I could get 15 people on here in the next 2 weeks, so I've got the manpower, and I've got a few ship ideas and a character planned out, but how do I do it?

Manpower is great. Roleplaying well is even better.

So how do you do what? express ship ideas? read the R&D FAQ. Start a group? It's in bold above.

The battle system also confuses me, from what I saw its barely been described

Think about how you duel a person. Then think about that being applied to ships. Then think with common sense.

How many ships can you bring to a fight? Well, how many planetary resources and how much of the galactic population is under the control of your faction?

You can't bring 100 ISD's and simply own an asteriod field. This would not be an example of applied common sense.

Don't you love it when people complain in their very first post on your board?

No definitive limit, but the most successful groups (GC, BDE, TNO) have at least 3-4 members.

But the more the merrier. If you are bringing 20 people over, maybe they'd like to start different types of groups. That is enough people for several.

Sam: yeah... heh.

Complain away on post number one. Just be at the "slowly falling in line" stage by post three and "completely devoid of free will" by post five, and we won't have any problems.

I'm just posting to express my love for the name "stealthweasle". Just the mental image of a stealthy weasel has brightened up my day.
