It certainly is a possibility.
I'm not sure what the new style will be, but almost certainly it will encompass all new changes and features and integrate the site even more -- a change similar to the difference between Bold Blue & Portal Default. I no longer provide support for anything but Portal Default (thusly why Dual and the Bold series is not updated as Zark mentioned). I've got limited time, so I like to provide one complete project rather than six mostly but never done.
What styles will stay and what will go will depend on the extent of the changes, but I'm pretty certain that the new method of organizing groups and the like will look like shit on anything but a style hacked to specifically display it correctly.
People are welcome to make their own styles though. Using Firefox or Opera you can easily change the style sheet for any website to one of your own design, which you could easily modify on your own computer until you get a look you like.
... What?
Group boards here are just subforums of TRF, with custom styles (to those lucky enough to have them). There is no way to allow access like you want. You can, of course, put your own forums up and we'll certainly link to you. This is how things were done years ago. The problem, and reason most groups are onTRF now is that with one unified login people are far more likely to post and visit other boards.
If you host your graphics on your own webspace, and we link to them, you can change it yourself any way you want at will.
Certainly!
Not possible. I looked into it, and as Sam said, the one hack would require an admin to link the accounts. There is also a definite security risk with this. Sorry, you'll just have to suck it up. :-P I will look into it again though, maybe something new has come up.
Depending on the extent of changes made, we may have to upgrade. Security-wise, I'll do anything we need when the time comes, depending on if we upgrade to 3.6 or stay in the 3.0.x series.
Is there a lot of demand for this? The picture gallery thread in The Commonwealth is popular, but not enough to seem to demand an entirelyseparate section. If there is a demand, we could certainly add one though. I'd hate to add a feature and see it stagnate.
Yes. My objective with the portal is to make it useful. Typically, usefulness comes by highlighting important and used features, and leaving other things out. We've got a lot of fat to trim and features to highlight.
