Something I want to do, not sure how.

Hi. The problem with trying to be a good guy here is that its' hard to understand how to do good guy things. Sure, give to charities, initiate welfare programs, etc. But where do you do that?

I want to write a thread reflecting and summarizing on the free and good lives of the citizens of the Coaltion, not for propaganda reasons but so that no one can ever say we aren't good to our people. What with all the wars on its' easy to forget about the poor NPCs.

This is a nice idea but not conceivable.

Propoganda.

Remember, just because you say it, doesn't make it true.

Typically your actions in battle reflect your 'stance' as it were.

Typically lightsiders are hallmarked by their compassion, continually allowing the enemy opportunity to surrender and their penchant for life of any type.

Sadly i've noticed the Azguard are lacking in certain areas in this respect.

ORS is even worse so, but they aren't bound by the same rules, so its not as bad.

You're having trouble figuring out how to depict the social status on your planets? You can depict that in any sort of RP...

"Billy the Azguard kid walked through the streets. Though somewhat dirty from use, overall the street was in good condition. There were no missing chunks of permacrete, no bodies laying dead. In general this was a good city to live in.

As he continued on his way home a woman hanging her clothing on a line that spanned the street dropped a pair of pants. They landed next to Billy with a plop. He glanced up, looking for the owner.

"Hey, throw those back up to me, will you?"

"Sure," he replied. With a husky pitch he lobbed the pants up. Because of their shape and mass they almost didn't make it. Luckily for her the woman was able to snag them just before they hit the apex of their flight.

"Thanks," she said, as she went back to hanging clothing."

"No problem," he replied, and continued on his way ..."

Thanks Kas. I was just making sure. The Azguards have scizopfrenia which makes their actions in battle a poor reflection to their domestic life. Did you know back in Lord Regrads' early military days, half of him spent its' time working on his stand up comedy act?

Never panned out though.

Dolash, I've read some of your writing and, while creative, what I think it lacks are details.

You seem (in my opinion) to have written yourself into a corner in that your Azguards (though they aren't the only people in the Coalition) are schizo.

One minute they are shiny happy people and the next, haters of the Empire, etc..etc..

Naive one minute and cold bloody killers the next.

The two don't mix....

So one question might be: How do other people (Calamari for instance) deal with Azguard and their schizo culture?

In your rp's you may simply say: the Mon Cals respect the secretive Azguard and treat them like blood brothers and will fight to the death to defend them!

That's all good and nice but it does not answer: Why?

I feel that once you answer how other Coalition aliens came to view Azguards as friends despite their schizo personas, then you'll have your answers as to what you can do to have other's view you the same way.

That's what gives characters dimension imho.

I think it's just a matter of writing more stories to explore your creations in depth before it all falls into place.

A good idea may be to ask yourself:

What does it mean to be "good"?
What does it mean to be a "Lightsider"?

Hint: It's not just having a name and calling yourself something.
