Unless he already had a second arbiter on the other side of the wormhole to keep it open. Hmmm, was that ever considered when he proposed the Arbiter, becuase Id think it be somewhat important of a consideration....
Wether or not an arbiters destruction while a fleet or ship is in the wormhole destroys the ships inside... sorta like a Cree'Ar interdictor effect (The effect of destroying ships attempting to jump to hyperspace inside an zone effect of an interdictor)

But then they'd be out a flagship.
Actually, Dolash, talk to me on AIM. I might have a trade to setup for you.

My fleet is in real space, but if the arbiter were destroyed WHILE in a conduit, then all ships would be trapped. If it were destroyed while outside a conduit, the wormhole would close naturally, although some ships may be lost.

Id figure no matter where the arbiter were. all ships in the wormhole would be destroyed, as the entire wormhole would collapse on them. Of course if your character were in one of the ships Im sure it would make the sudden "Lets move faster than we could have a few seconds ago when i told you to make top speed becuase were in a tough situation" to heroically shoot out the other end of the wormhole before your fleet collapsed....

I think if the wormhole is being generated by one ship, and that ship is destroyed then the wormhole fails. I don't see how another arbiter would know where (in transit) the fleet ended up to open another wormhole (unless one was travelling with the fleet.. if that is possible).
And if the arbiter could expend an incredible amount of energy.. or at least enough to destroy a Viscount, I would think then that the energies it was using to control the wormhole would feed back on themselves creating a devestating effect to any ships in transit.
If the ships destruction were not much.. then I would say the fleet in transit would simply be trapped (if with no other means of transportation.. ie: hyperdrive).. perhaps out of the game for 2 OOC weeks and then they pop back up on the grid....
hmm...

The amount of energy needed to create the wormhole is small, thanks to the volitile nature of dark matter.
It is the same reason why the Scorpions are so destructive. The arbiter is loaded to the gills with the shit and could hypothetically drop SSDs if it were parked in the bridge/engine room.
The wormhole is creates is not artifically sustained. It has a natural cycle. The Abirter opens an entrance and an exit to the conduit, but the wormhole does the rest itself, including close on both ends so as not to be followed, as it cannot be sustained indeifnitely due to it's artifical creation.

Well, by that logic if a ship is destroyed then the wormhole is innundated with the volatile dark matter destroying stuff inside... methinks.
And if the ship only creates openings in existing wormholes, then your ships would not be able to travel where the natural wormholes do not exist ...

No to point one. If it were destroyed while creating a wormhole then it would damage any ships trying to enter it. If destroyed in a wormhole, it would not be innundated, it would expand as the dark matter forced it further open. Like penetration, it's tight when you slide in, but once you add juice, it's easy sailing.
And no Omnae, it doesn't create openings in natural wormholes, it stimulates their creation.
