one of Hyfe's stupid ideas

So I was thinking, and then I got dizzy, and had to sit down.

But, like, you know... while I was sitting down, I wondered what TRF would be like in say, 3 years. What pathetic souls would still be visiting here? How many of our original members would still be around, and how many new folks would we have drawn in, and subsequently chased off?

I've seen this happen (and experienced it first hand) many times: a person contributes to some kind of online community for a good long time, say a year or more, and then they move on, only to come back as a visitor months later and have no one remember who they are.

Anywho, this got me to thinking that maybe it would be a good idea to include a short bit in our Biography forum threads about our OOC history, ie when you started RPing, how you got to TRF, the characters you played, groups you were in, etc. That way people could look back and see who a certain person was, what they did, etc.

It may sound silly, but I see TRF lasting quite a long time, and I know not all of us are going to stick around forever. Could you imagine if in 2 or 3 years you drop by TRF and no one knows who the hell Gash Jiren is? Simon Kaine? Hexadragon? ("who?" 2/3 of you say).

Yeah. Just a thought.

Yes I've seen this idea many others places too, Danster. Like.... at every other place both on the web and in actual physical existence that has a history? So that was sort of a moot point. Anyways...

Given TRF's rich past and it's proven ability to endure, and so many big figures have come and gone, it's an idea worth looking into...

Yeah, like reinforcing stereotypes about yourself because its cool to have an identity?

No... But seriously, TRF in 2 or 3 years?

I just hope the newbies haven't taken over.

Because I'll still be here.

My posts will probably be in the 4 billions.

And that could get ugly...

I like the idea. Don't know about other boards doing it as I do not browse other boards much.

Start us off Hyfe. Or better yet, perhaps people might work better in an interview setting..

pick a person and send them a bunch of questions to answer. Member of the Week Hightlight or something.

I've wondered about this myself. I've been here close to three years now, and i could easily see myself loosing interest, coming back a few years later and saying hi, and have people ask who the heck I am, and not recognize any of the names.

Then one of them would say, "Hello Kas, this is Gash." And the next one would be Zark's latest alias, or something of that nature.

Some people will never leave, I'm sure. :)

It sounds like a good idea Hyfe. After all, there are some stories and such that I would like to throw about from my 6 or so years of chat/forum RPing. And I'm sure everyone else has alot of stories they would like to reflect on to.
