On Anti-Fighter Units

I was curious, do these have to be listed? The things such as AAA laser cannons and Anti-Starfighter Rockets that are mounted in cities? Obviously the mobile SAM launchers need to be built, but what about the static ones? Do they need to be built? Do they need to be listed in the starting manifest?

You'll probably have to R&D it to get some hard stats, and then build it. If you can come up with some good stats, we could probably do it as a general R&D.

Well I know anti-fighter batteries have been around forever - one such example was the attack on...Carida was it? by Rebel forces during I think the X-Wing series.

And I know in the Rogue Squadron video game there's hundreds of anti-fighter turrets.

Maybe we can set it up so they have like 25 SBD, 45 RU for regular and take 10 days to build a city's worth, and then 50 SBD and 90 RU for advanced (twin missile launchers) for 20 days for a city's worth in a construction yard.

Anti-Fighter lasers could be 25 SBD and 45 RU and 5 days, and double could be 50/90 and 10 days and so on and so forth.

I was thinking about this as well.. but what sort of damage would this do since their numbers would be determined by the size of whatever city they were built in.

But I wouldn't give them shields...

Shields might be a bit much now that I think about it. Their defense comes in their size (so small that fighters need to fly in low to hit them and even if they tried that then wam...they're dead).

I can write up a "general R&D" format for it real fast if the staff would like that, and we can pick at it and come to a final conclusion.

On Liinade Three in the X-wing book Isard's Revenge, when the New Republic attacked that world, Corran Horn's X-wing starfighter had been shot down by a shoulder pack fired missile. There was some kind of slang term used to describe the missile, but I forgot what it was.

The term was "chip missile".

For the shoulder mounted ones, I think it should be the same as a blaster rifle, you don't have to build it. However, you should state how many of your troops have one.

Or else build it in bulk. Like 500 packs for 1 day, or something like that.

I'm thinking something similar to the current planetary defenses listed in the rules.

No. Just say you have it and we'll believe you.

Remember this when your enemy claims to have them.
