Why isn't there a New Republic?

Because it failed...
The Empire rules this galaxy at the moment.
The Coalition is probably the closest thing to it though.
Got ambitions for your own?... O.o

We've had the NR in the past.
Most prominent in 2002 ish.
The main lightside group at this point, as Seth said, is the New Coalition.

Ambitions to start a lightside group? Not really. I don't have the time required to run a group. What happened to the old group?

Defeated, pretty much, then disbanded.
The New Coalition was formed as a new force for the lightside, the Jedi almost went under, but they appear to be having a revival.
I'm sure the New Coalition would love to have some more support.

Well if anyone is interested in creating a new New Republic I would be willing to help.

It might work a little better now, what without the fleet manifests and rules, etc. Since things are a little more freeform it should be a little less discouraging to get pwnzored by TNO repeatedly.

I wouldn't bother to create a New Republic. The group has a terrible history at TRF, and when Gash killed it, a lot of people gladly emoted their good fucking riddances.
I would join the Coalition. They have Jan and Griff, some of the most experienced lightsiders around, and Dolash, one of the most active and passionate lightsiders today.

I prefer "Logan"
Griff is a tainted name.
