Never volunteer for anything! - I'll be back saturday

Sorry, but I volunteered to help with a musical talent show over the next two days, and by volunteering to help I mean being made the Master of Ceremonies with barely enough information to make a script, overbearing humourless organizers, and one rehearsal under my belt. :dead

The organizers aren't helping at all with my introductions - they're the sort of people who hire someone they hear is funny, then cut out all the humour because it turns out it's the humour they didn't want, and are now personally disappointed in you. Apparently it's all my fault that they didn't tell me things like what I was supposed to do, who the sponsors were, or who the acts were. Anyways, just two more days (The actual performance days) then I'm free of this hell.

On the plus side, it is really no skin off my nose if things go sour. I'm part of no organization, nor am I being paid, nor do I have classes with any of the teachers involved. They can't really punish me, other than cutting my mic and generally disrupting their own performance, so I'm at least relaxed in that regard.

Thus, I'll start posting again on Saturday, and you should all probably notice a massive uptick in happiness, energy, and enthusiasm. See you then.

One of them even threatened to break my thumbs, and is crazy enough to do it (Recent family tragedy, gone off the deep end, etc) so if I'm not writing for a while assume the worst!

I make it a practice to do my own thing when the hosts forget to tell me important stuff until the last minute. I usually say "Hey, you had a few weeks advance notice. I never got anything from you, so I wrote my own."

If they can't be nice enough to keep you in the loop a head of time, they don't deserve you changing your script to meet their desires.

If they want it done a certain way, they can do it themselves. But no, they wanted you, so you go do your thing and if they're not happy remind them that perhaps they could learn a little thing we like to call "Planning".

Good luck man. I don't envy your position, been there a few times.

Just get up there and make it up on the spot and say what you want, be worth a laugh.

(make sure you're very drunk though as to make it even funnier).

Its a school thing, I think. So getting drunk before it or at it might not be the best idea. But good luck.

One performance down, one to go. It went pretty well, although the MCs for the second act really blew the crap out of my MCing of the first act. In turn, their MCing was blown to crap by a guy called Stephan who did an awesome Michael Jackson dance to music, complete with flawless moonwalking.

Dolash's Friends: Awesome job, man!

Performers Dolash Introduced: Thanks, that was lots of fun! I'm really looking forwards to the next show tomorrow!

Other MCs: Great work, man - really, we've got a great show goin' here, we should be good tomorrow too!

Audience Members: Wow, great job, nice jokes, etc

Dolash: Wow, with all this positive reinforcement from everyone involved, the producers must be happy with my performance.

Luke the thumbreaker: You messed up one of the names of the producers during the thank-you. :mad

Producer one: It was subpar.

Producer two: What were you doing up there?! You thanked the stage manager, but not the creative director? The creative director is higher up the hierarchy, you'll just piss him off!

Dolash: :dead

Fuck the producers man. It's the crowd and performers that count.
