Actually, yes. The Armies/Armed Services of Russia, China, Holland, Belgium, and Britain at a glance will not discharge a soldier/officer for being gay.
And yes - it is still a suprise to me. However, they have offered my employment and it will give me a chance to return to duty and serve again. Even if it is not a country of which I am greatly enamored, it will allow me to serve. I am at a point in my life of such low personal morale that I would glaly throw on the uniform of the Russian Confederation and serve the Motherland.
Ah - and from here on out, Im not gay. I am straight and have a girlfriend. Understood - if any of you are asked about me.
To my Imperial brethren - you have my permission to NPC my actions so long as it is inkeeping with my character: brave, honourable, fanatically anti-democracy, and undeinably regal.
Unfortunatley, while they won't discharge you, the armed forces of my country will make it a hell of a lot harder for you if you're openly gay. I know because my Uncle is in the army and he's had the shit kicked into him numerous times and is generally given the worse assignments. He was on the news quite a while back when him and three other soilders launched a complaint that in the end was hushed up.
Would that girlfriend happen to have a male name and mysteriously change sex when not in a dress?
Just remember, it is easier to be hetero and act homo rather to be homo and act hetero. But for the most part, assuming for the average gay, just don't be so clean and upswept, dress good but not too good, and try not to be furitive or nervous.
