That almost would have been preferrable (the wifey giving me the boot) so I wouldn't have had to pay a dang $300 pet deposit for her dogs.

heh...

We live in a duplex and the landlord got the crazy idea that the economy is going to turn around and so he wants to sell the house. Got the notice on the 1st so we had to scramble to look for apartments.

It's been an interesting few days.

I guess it's the thought that counts eh, Beff?

That's pretty ridiculous, on your landlord's part. Good luck with the move though, and finding a place.

What's the terms of your lease regarding notice of eviction, and for what reasons? Usually, under U.S. law, it is illegal for a landlord to break a lease/evict tenants without good cause, that being something the tenant did to force eviction. Unless it's an at-will tenancy, or a month-to-month, which could cause problems.

Well, it's my wife's lease since, after we were married, I moved in with her and not the other way around since she did not like the area of town where I lived. I agreed that her area of town was better.

Anyway, her lease ran out and she never signed another but simply kept paying rent month to month so that was pretty much the way it's gone ever since.

He was giving us 30 days which is what he has to do legally. It's all good. We found another place, a better place. A place with a pool...

Ah. Just trying to put into practice some of the law stuff I'm learning. Contract and Property Law are actually more interesting in practice than on paper, I'm finding.

What was wrong with Omnae's old place? The wife didn't like air conditioners being stolen?
