Being freelance blows. I want to get into a faction and meet new people. Preferably, I'd like to go neutral or light side with this character, but I'm pretty sure she could be corrupted into going into teh evilz. Mostly, I just want an active faction to play with.

Who's recruiting?

Join the Empire!

The SS is always looking for new members. In fact, actually, I need someone to take over the Kommandos, now that Wes is running the entire SS, which has expanded well beyond the original four squadrons.

Not to mention we could use someone in the SS R&D department, too. I'm tired of having to design my own ships, tanks, and fighters. Though I'll admit it is occasionally fun, all the details gets boring. Just another option, if you want it.

So, you interested in the job? You'd probably start with a new Squadron, color of your choosing (other than Black, Red, Gray, and White) - twelve individuals who are all crack pilots as well as specializing in a certain area (think Wraith Squadron types). You'd be the head of that squadron IC. OOC, you'd also get to RP all the Kommando Squadrons, six in all. Your direct commanding officer would be Colonel Racen Selere, a large (muscular-large, not fat-large) Kuati officer. Speaks with a German accent, nasty if you're on his bad side, but has the patience of a 19th Century German aristocrat.

Above him is Wes - you can read up on him as much as you like.

If you want to know more about either officer or about the SS in general, look at the bio of Wesley Vos (there's a number of links at the bottom) or run a Battlegrounds search on the names. That should turn up anything you need.

And if you choose this command, I already have your first assignment. Should keep you pretty busy for a while.

No more R&Ds Wes. We're all set for now.

Another option in the Empire is the General Fleet. You can start off much better positioned than you do in the SS - a squadron of ships (12-20 warships, including a number of star destroyers and heavy cruisers) rather than a squadron of starfighters. With these ships you can go about developing your character and assisting the Empire. Promotions come fast these days provided you put in the effort.

The defunct Smuggler's Alliance is also another option. We are the only active criminal faction on TRF (by active, I mean I'm around and put up my second post for them in eighteen months this afternoon) If you decide to move in that direction I have some big plans and that will spur me back to activity.

Join the Coalition! Save the galaxy!

The Galactic Coalition of Planets began as an alliance of independent nation-states which joined forces to present a united front against their common enemy, The New Order (of the Galactic Empire).

Much has changed since the early days (which, sadly, I missed). We've fought wars (most of which we've lost), made and lost new friends, suffered some crushing defeats; but what remains of the Coalition are those peoples and worlds whose commitment cannot be doubted. From the relatively peaceful but disorganized West, to the war-torn East, to the refugee-filled Cooperative, and the secluded Azguard; those people who still choose to call themselves "Coalition" are a people determined to die bearing that name; whether in another great war, by the hands of their gods, or perhaps only the inevitable passage of time.

We're the good guys, even though (In Character) a very few people have done a very good job of making it seem otherwise. We fight the bad guys, even if we know we're going to lose, because that's what good guys do. We would abandon a planet to save its population, lose a war fleet to save a civilian convoy, and accept the dominance of an evil Empire to prevent more bloodshed and loss.

As for what you might do . . . well that's pretty much limitless. Diplomat, politician, scientist, military commander, Jedi, random wandering do-gooder, trader . . . so on and so forth. Each of those, of course, has its own subset of things you might do.

The only other "good guys" currently around are the "Contegorian Confederation" and the New New (New?) "Alliance to Restore the Republic." You're going to want to talk to Corise Lucerne for either of those two.

Oh, well, there's the Jedi Enclave too. Talk to Zark Ekan about them.

And if you want to know more about the Coalition, ask either Dolash or me (Dolash is in charge).

Hai 2 u, 1 with bewbz!

u lik jediz? jediz cool 2 u? i r king o al jediz! i haz big bombad jediz templ! u joyn mah jediz templ?

For serious, the Jedi Enclave is active and always looking for potential recruits. We currently operate out of Ossus, once shining jewel of the now-defunct New Republic, and one of the few bright Lights remaining in a very dark galaxy.

We are, as it stands, the main Jedi faction operating within the TRF universe at this time, although following recent and not-so recent events there are other burgeoning splinter elements, which should prove to be very interesting in the future. Basically, the Enclave is a refugee camp for Jedi who have survived the closing of the Jedi Temple on Naboo, a lack of formal leadership, and continued persecution by the Empire and Sith, as well as a safe haven for Force sensitives, both young and old, who are just discovering themselves/deciding to step forward about their sensitivity.

We are officially a part of the League of Nations, an in character organization (not an OOC faction) of independent planets that have banded together to help each other maintain their independence, mainly from the Empire but also against Coalition and other influences as well. We (at least very soon) shall be serving as peacekeepers for LoN worlds, and as we grow stronger we hope to expand our influence and keep the peace throughout the galaxy.

So far, the Enclave only consists of myself, Jedi Master Zark Ekan (King o Al Jediz), and several NPCs I control. I hope to recruit more of our Jedi population to my cause, but as it stands right now everyone is kind of doing their own thing, especially during the events of Cataclysm, and any new hands would be appreciated. :)

Join the Empire!

We have several different immediate means to integrate just abou any character class into the current timeline and storyline without much in the way of difficulties.

Fabulous. Thank you Ahnk for suggesting this! It's great to see that people are active and willing to recruit. It's really hard to tell what factions/groups are active when the faction forums look as if they haven't been posted in for (literally) years.

I think I would like to do some force training sort of deal, but I don't really plan to do that alone. If someone's interested in getting some Jedi training, can they work with another faction as well?

Absolutely yes.

In fact, almost all of our Jedi population is involved in a non-Force faction. Just, as we've said before, keep in mind the common sense rule. A Jedi working for the Empire probably wouldn't fly, unless she were really gullible/had some serious issues. :P

Speaking as a representative of the Enclave, I can say that we accept all Force sensitives regardless of affiliation (for the most part). The Enclave would be willing to train anyone without expectation of their undivided allegiance.

But when it comes down to it, TRF is probably much more free form even when it comes to Force rules than most places you'd likely be used to. Jedi training isn't confined to factions. All you really need is a Jedi to train you, and certain past cases have proven it doesn't even necessarily need to be a PC, NPCs will do.

In the end, as long as you fit the requirements met by our Force rules, advancement is possible. And everything else is, in the end, character development. I hope that answers your question.
