I've noticed that you have began work on your Smuggler's Alliance group. Congrats on that, but...
If I remember correctly, you are planning on stealing those Victories from the Corporate Sector Authority. If your thread takes place eight or nine years ago that means you're stealing from the Vinda Corporation.
Think about this before you continue.

Hmm.
Seth, I'd like to talk about it over AIM. Perhaps we could arrange something, or maybe you could give me some details on exactly when Vindacorp completed it's domination of the sector, and I can move my thread to a point before it.

That'll be the day... :P

his AIM is... SethVinda
I put him on my buddy list a while back after looking at the staff contact thing, and I've seen him online occasionally.
But, perhaps some things are best done by PM...
Seth, could you please tell me about Vinda Corp in the past, when it took hold of the sector, and if it was too early, then howabout we negotiate a sweet deal? You have a 9 Victory and about a dozen Maurdor Corvett surpless 8-9 years ago and I take them off your hands, and in exchange I do some "freelance cargo delivery" for youa in the present. How would that sound?

I was wondering something else too. How do plan on maintaining all these capital ships with a handful of "shadowports."

when yo ucan make 10000 credits on a single load of spice, the money adds up fast. We operate on the less than legitimate side of things. And I was thinking about 2000 smuggler ships in the alliance, each giving 10% to the alliance in exchange for them giving them work (they recieve tasks from people who need spice ran or something, and then they hand them out).
From starwars canon clues, A credit is worth quite a bit more than a dollar. When a proton torpedo costs 2000 credits, something probably as com plicated as an air to air misisle and about as expensive, credits add up even faster
We should have a good sized cashflow.

Yeah, 'cos Talon Karrde did exactly the same thing and he had a fleet of warships.... oh no, wait... he didn't. That's right, it was Booster and the Errant Venture that Karrde relied upon for "muscle"...
Think about it Kach, if you're going to use canon references to support your claim. And more importantly, Kach, it's not just about the money. If it were then I'd imagine that Microsoft would have one of the worlds largest private fleets. You have to consider moorage, maitenance, supplies... not to mention training enough 'fringers' to man and operate your ships, and then you have to perpetuate it.
But then again I've always been against the idea of using a retrospective element to create something like this; perhaps as an allusion to its manifestation sure.

hmm.
Thank you Beff. I think I needed that.
I will ahve my fleet... it'll prtobably end up paying for itself by acting as muscle for hire (defending planets without fleets against attacking neightbors), I just have to work it out further htan I have.

Another to remember is that...
Booster Terrik could barely even keep Errant Venture running. The best condition it was ever in was during the Vong war, and that was because it was basically an element of the Alliance fleet.

He ran a casino on it, too, not exactly what a star destroyer's designed for.
And there's always good old fashioned extortion. "Give us money or we waste your planet."
I'll figure it out. Someday I'll ahve a fleet as big as VIndas, it'll just take me a while.
