Imperial Expansion (Kathol Sector): OOC

In this thread there is an attempt to creat a generic off shot of the Aing-ti monks.

Calling themsevles the Shara-ti Monks.

This is creating a new force group from an off shoot of another canon group an attempt that could potentially screw up any Rp continuties becuase of the fact that the new off shoot did not exist before yet should have an recorded history with said group yet there is none to work from.

I would like to know if this is legal or not.

Considering I have had enough trouble using just canon force groups without creating an entire new off shoot with no canon backround.

I have avoided doing such things becuase it makes it difficult to resolve the lack of history of such groups. And the lack of previous encounters or knowledge of the group by the group that they off shoot from. Making such things difficult to maintain and justify.

Not to mention the lack of canon ships and techs from new said groups. Creating new groups with new technologies is like making entirely new techs while avoiding the R&D forum.

If this is indeed legal I would like to know becuase it then opens up whole new avenues for my Rping.

Additionally there is some canon information that this RP is leaving out in respect to Exocron namely the Air fleet and the government situation on the planet.

"Airfleet

this was the name of Exocron's primary atmospheric defense force. The Airfleet employed heavily-modified airspeeders known as Skylarks to protect the huge Sky-Dreadnaughts which anchored its fleet. When the pirates and criminals of the Kathol Outback began invading Exocron airspace, it was decided that the force should be expanded to patrol the immediate space near Exocron. At this time, the Airfleet grew into the Exocron Combined Air-Space Fleet. (KO, VOF)"

"Exocron

this world is the primary planet in the Exocron System, located in the Kathol Outback and hidden within a gas cloud. Much of the population of the Outback is unaware of the existence of Exocron, since it is located within a nebula of gases that interfere with most sensor systems. Most star maps of the Outback fail to show Exocron, which is just as well for the planet's inhabitants. The planet was originally settled by colonists of the Cabal, who fled the hypocrisy and "plastic society" of the Core Worlds during the early time of the Old Republic to find the world of Exo. Their ship, the Exocros Cabal, was damaged in an asteroid storm, and wandered the galaxy until it found Exocron. The planet was named for their ship, and the colonists destroyed their ship and set up a guardian force to keep it safe for future use. In the meantime, the majority of the colonists began living off the land and keeping to themselves. The guardians became known as the Devisors, and became the upper of two social castes. Any new technology had to be approved by the Devisors before it could be made available for general use. The splitting of the social structure was not easy, though, and many small battles erupted between factions who wanted more control or more freedom. A series of unification wars swept the planet in the years just prior to the Battle of Yavin, re-establishing the position of the Devisors. Jorj Car'das retired to Exocron after running into the Aing-Tii monks. "

He's basically (I believe) just making a filler group. I don't think he intends to roleplay them out, instead, he intends to roleplay against them. I don't think this is illegal, or an attempt to dodge or outright break the rules.

I don't think.

But it is worth mentioning, and I await Draysons (calm) response in regards to this matter.

Thank you, as well, for the canon information. I'm sure he may wish to use that information in the future.

Vonta. One is allowed to create planets for RP purposes. That involves creating, in some cases, entire species and history. Creating a group to roleplay off of is hardly worth mentioning.

I am well aware of the history of Exocron. If you'll notice, the general implication is that the government there has changed. The Shara-Ti Monks are built on the ORS takeover of Lorize, and the statement that the Aing-Ti Monks were severly diminished by Xeron Jiren and his quest to retrieve the Blade on Kain. I've probably messed up both those spellings, but there you are.

If you'll also notice, the Shara-Ti Monks were destroyed at the end of the roleplay by the Imperial forces. They technological developments are the same as those of the Aing-Ti Monks - they are simply a group of traitors and the like that alligned themselves with the pirates.

Oh, and before you tell me that the Aing-Ti Monks were very anti-pirate and anti-slaver (something of which I am well aware) keep in mind two things: a) that these are not the Aing-Ti Monks, and b) that, as Force users, even the Aing-Ti are vulnerable to the temptations of the Dark Side.

The stuff with Jiren is not in the TRF battle grounds and hence never took place in the TRF universe.

The effects, as such, are not viable to TRF history of the TRF Aing-tii.

The history can be used IC for charecter usage but becuase it was not RPed on TRF battle grounds the lasting effects never took place to the actual Aing-tii people.

You can build on a RP, but not on a single statement.

No, they are only an off shoot of the Aing-tii monks and a cheap way to gain the use of their technology.

Their off shoot was never RPed out at all. So their group cannot exist if they were never RPed out as such.

What you have done is pulled none a none canon group out of your hat to avoid OOC complications. If this is viable then it would be childs play for any person to find rebel off shoots from a canon group and rp them to get some sort of exclusive information or technology from them that would other wise be beyond their reach becuase of the rules stating that you cannot RP another persons IC assets, including peoples and ships.

I could let it go, but if I am correct you are going to use this as an excuse to obtain Aing-tii technology.

Something that you would have been barred from doing.

Uhh... sure. If you'd take a look, you'd notice that I haven't attempted to R&D or build any Aing-Ti ships. If I wanted to, I could simply do the same thing ORS did and have an Aing-Ti "meet" my character and "agree" to give me warships if I left them alone.

You assume to much.

No actually you could not do as ORS did.

I own the Aing-tii home world now in the Observer Order.

As such no one can just RP meeting ships from the Aing-tii because IC wise I control everything that involves the Aing-tii now.

Just as the Imperials control all imperial assets when they take specific worlds.

The Bakurans would not just hand over their Bakura class star destroyer. You have to Rp capturing the ship in battle against a ORS member and obtain the ship in question.

The same applies with the Ssi-Ruuvi and their people and technology.

The Hapans and their people and technology.

I added that ORS recieved said ships into my takeover Rp to avoid any complications.

Now no one else may do so with out RPing with TOO.

Are you saying that you are not going to use these members of the Aing-ti race to your advantage then? And just use them as filler to not be used in future RPs or for Aing-tii techs?

This thread doesn't really serve a purpose. He has said he's not going to use any tech or ships from this made up group, thus nothing he has done is illegal.

That's my take on the situation.

Thus if he uses this NPC group or the actions with said group in the thread in question for any technological or inteligence gains in the future, then it would be dubbed illegal?

Such as building the Aing-tii ships, using Aing-tii specific technology in another tech, or learning where the Aing-tii home world is and how to get to it.

Using the group for anything but storylines would be a definite no.

As would using Aing tii ships or Aing tii tech.

I'm not going to rule finding the Aing tii homeworld illegal; if he were to roleplay it out, I don't see why I would throw it out.

If he rped it out sure he could find the planet somehow.

But not using a group from the Aing-tii race that he just made up.

That I would have a problem with.

A secret location is as valuble of a thing as the techs.

I could do the same thing with a group of people from say...

Bastion.

Just creat a group of say, pilgrams, from Bastion that left there years before TNO took it over. That are able to supply the exact location of TNO's oh so secret planet.

I can guarentee you that they would raise hell over a person doing something like that.

This is the same kind of situation and I dislike the thougt of losing a location that way just as TNO would.
