The MK I bodyguards fell in beside the Daemun priest as he stepped down from the boarding ramp of the Tion shuttlecraft. There were four of them, and their appearances were all the same-- tall, broad shouldered, alert-eyed, and silent.

One of them was plugged into a backpack full of electrical and chemical sensors. It was his job to make sure no bomb, poison, pathogen, radiation, or microdroid harmed him. The MK I's preceded him around corners, through doors, and into closed spaces.

High Regent, Sully Anre, had gotten the chief of security to order the protection and had won a reluctant promise from the priest to accept it.

Alex Cross had learned to pretend they weren't there, even when they shared a liftcar, a transport, or a slidewalk with him. He didn't want to learn their real names or to become friendly with them-- his promise didn't extend that far. He wanted them to be furniture.

The only time he acknowledged their presence was when one of them silently signaled an alarm. Then he would let the others guide him to whatever sheltered spot they chose, and would wait there until the MK I satisfied itself that there was no threat. It happened often enough that it no longer startled him, but infrequently enough that it was only a minor annoyance.

Still, Alex never expected it to happen while he was walking along the royal corridor, just outside the walls of the governor's chamber.

One moment he was striding briskly past a holo statuary, robes flowing, his mind sorting through what he knew about the Tethians. Then, in an eyeblink, one of the MK I's sharply raised its hand and another pushed Alex sideways into one of the niches where the pillar between it and the next offered cover.

Then, just as suddenly, it was over. "Clear," the MK I said in its emotionless voice, moving aside to allow Alex to emerge from the niche. Frowning crossly, the priest hurried after the Daemun super-soldier and demanded to know what had prompted the alarm.

"I detected a new energy field at the entrance to the Governor's Hall," the MK I said, pointing its cybernetic hand. "It became active as we approached."

Still frowning, Cross strode a few dozen steps farther down the corridor, then stopped short when the double doors opened before him.

Sounds awfully familar, wouldn't you say? Familiar enough that I suppose it shouldn't be considered part of your takeover count? Original material, and what not...

My thoughts too.

Elaborate Demos. You feel its been ripped off somewhere else?

Not a small accusation there, best have something to back it up with.

Or have I misunderstood.

Exchange "Mk II" for "Shooter" and "Sniffer", and the "cross" or whatever with the words

"1000 Days Without a Shot Fired in Anger
Remember, Peace is no Accident"

and you have what appears to me to ripped straight out of the pages of Before the Storm. I haven't found the exact page references yet, and maybe it's "inspired by" not word for word. But it's awfully close to what I remember of that passage...

Demos, would you like some help or not to find the pages?

Grevious has a knack for doing this. He's afraid to venture after me in creating original storylines.

No worries, it was culled from that idea. I won't tiptoe around it and I won't backpedal.

I had about 10 minutes remaining of my lunch hour to come up with something to stall the takeovers, so I did a quick cut-and-paste and tweeked it a bit.

Yes, it was underhanded and wrong, but I needed to stall time so I could write the next post after it for Fwillsving, before they could continue deeper into the story.

Which basically leads to this next point--

I no longer have time to write as much as I use to. In fact, my workload in the office has got to the point that I can no longer spend an entire lunch hour to write my posts, and in this case, I had to cheat in order to keep up with the GC's activities and to keep on top of them.

As of this moment, I have three large projects in the office that need to be completed by the end of this month-- no exceptions, so I must spend time on this, as work takes priority as everyone knows.

For that, I apologize for pulling this stunt on the GC and will like to offer the following:

1. I can rewrite the post when I actually have the time and do it correctly in my own words, and we can continue the story on its course.

2. I can request that both my posts be removed from the story and I can let the GC continue without interference.

Either way is fine with me. I give GC the choice. I can no longer afford to keep up with the activities of the BDE, especially with the other factions having more members than the BDE. I am the sole active member/writer of this faction, which has led me to cheat in order to keep up.

Raktus, I apologize, but I simply can't keep up with this pace any longer. Being the sole writer of this faction has taken its toll on me.

Sorry.

I'll keep writing my other RP's with the ones I have commited to, but I can only say that I will write when time permits, which is now few and far between. And no hack jobs, either. I feel bad that I pulled this on everyone.

As for the other writers that I was planning to write with, we may have to put future plans on the back burner or rethink other options.

If there is a penalty, I'll accept it. I won't defend my actions.

And again, apologies.

General Grevious, it is more then understandable that you should be busy with real life. No apologies are needed, and I think it is quite respectable of you to take your work seriously. Since the posts have been causing a little bit of trouble in the sense that we are perhaps edging a little too close to a full-blown battle, I would like to request that we could continue unimpeded, but I wouldn't want to force you to do anything. If you really wish to push on, I'd be fine with you just keeping those posts - even as is.

If, however, you too would like to see an end to hostilities in the Teth and Fwsvilling region, in an effort to prevent time-consuming combat and perhaps a difficult and badly-timed war, I would perhaps advise you just posting that the Black Dragon Empire chooses to let the Coalition be for now. You could leave your reasons as open or hidden as you desire, to ensure no loss of face, and let's be honest you could always come back later if you so desired.

All of the GC roleplayers involved in the thread accept Dolash's idea/suggestion/whatever you want to call it.

But jsut to clarify, could you post your decision here before we restart the thread and then Logan will make a post, I'll make a post, you make your posts, then dolash and we restart posting order.
