It's third party software that connects to your MSN, AIM, Yahoo!, ICQ, and IRC accounts as one application, instead of opening five different programs. It also does some nice stuff, like automatically logging and displaying conversations, offering skins, etc.
There's a free version, a paid version, and a cracked pay version. A lot of people here use it in liu of MSN Messenger and AIM because MSN sucks.

That sounds pretty compact there :)
Is it free? As in a download, or do you have to buy it seperatly?
I need that because all of my friends have different programs, which forces me to dowload AIM, MSN, and yahoo.

It's free.
Trillian eats way too much memory, though.

I haven't compared it to running AIM and MSN at the same time, so I couldn't tell you if it's comparable in that regard. I use it 'cause it's convient.
Like I said, there's a free download. There's also a paid version that offers more features and stuff. I don't recall whether the free version has adds or not, but it may.
Type it into Google... I can't spell their web address.

Trillian uses way less memory than having all four major clients open at once, the copy I have running now has peaked at 14MB, and is currently using 5MB. The free version has no adds, or at least the website says so. I have not tried Trillian3, I'm happy with my copy of Pro 2.

Trillian had a nasrt little habit of not letting me on the internet unless I timed its opening and the opening of my browser perfectly in a series of ways that I forget, and I was too lazy to fix the problem. Also, it sucks the wang.

Trillian is good. I have used it for years and the only problems with it are sending things via Direct Connect and making chat rooms. I will never go back.
But if this site were to have a chat where I could see "# members chatting" that would be sweeter than training a newbie. I'd even join it.

This thread caught me off guard. :)
Thanks for the link Sam. I'll be sure to make good use of it, but back to the first question really quick. Are we planning to have a live chat installed, or are we just going to abort that idea here?

It's on the 'look into' list.

God knows why you'd want to talk to the losers on this board anyway.
