To ease and help speed up entries, I'm changing a couple of things. Instead of grouping ships into different time periods, I'm just going to list in each ship an approximate time of comissioning, and instead of listing ships by faction, I'll just add a affiliation to each ship, espically since a lot of ships have served under different goverments over time.
I figure once everything is said and done we can organize the ships into classes depending on their size like we originally intended.

I would think that you could write out a list of canon ships you know you'll need specs for, get the specs (plus pic would be nice) and when all the data is ready, sorting and classifying and grouping would come later.
Kraken, what ship specs do you have so far?
Once we have the data, then a database page/forum displaying that data on in some form of board-friendly format can be designed.
That way, additions to these "pages" (if perhaps displayed in a webpage format) can take place as little as possible as it can be alot of work.
At least, that is my two cents. You get your list, Kas gets his, we compare the specs and (if they differ) settle on one then we can go about putting up that data in a dbase format.
Also, we may want to put an official source where these stats come from, or the existence of such craft come from (to back up canon claims).

Right now I have about 10-15 ships done, with another 40-50 on the way.

I wasn't planning on grouping ships by anything other than their size...

Yeah that's my new and current plan. But to avoid confusion we should still add references to the goverments they served under, when they were first or their prime in use, and their canon sources. Or at least one source.

Agreed. that should be in the writeup..
