A couple of points for historical reference:
1) With our different history, the Super Star Destroyer Guardian would not have existed. She was originally an Imperial Remnant ship, comissioned just before NJO, then joined the Galatic Alliance fleet later in the storyline.
2) The Guardian was neither an Eclipse nor an Executor class destroyer. It is what's known as a Guardian type Super Star Destroyer, referring to the earlier ship under Drommel, that's a shrunken but still powerful version of the original Executors.
3) Eclipse; 17,500 meters length. Sovereign; 15,000 meters length. Executor; 12,500 meters length.
Those notes aside, talking about discovering new resources aside and all that, I don't think it's necessarily a forbidden deal, but if you did "discover" new resources, you would need to extensivley develop them, and they would need to be less abundant than historical canon resources for that resource. You won't be able to, in other words, discover it in one thread, and have taken full use of it in the next thread.
