Well, Rome was not what I expected either. It seemed too crowded and everything was too small (houses, cars, hotel rooms, etc..).

The Vatican was neat but I got tired and bored quick. It was just too much of seeing basically the same thing. Sistine Chapel was dark! Though I did get some video footage inside before the cops shut us down.

Loved the Coliseum and the Forum. I found a nice marble piece from road outside the Senate remains.

Lot of walking and it was cold and rainy though that did not detract from the experience. The cabs were super expensive. I hated getting in and seeing the meter knowing I owed $15 before we even moved!

I guess I expected to see everything larger, more spread out, plenty of room and stuff like that.

I will say this for the country, the girls are so dang cute..

But I was taken aback going to an Italian restaurant and having orientals running the place. heh.

Still, the food rocked. Waiters were crappy, their service industry needs help and our bus had to pay 350 euros to get into the city of Florence. That sucked.

All the pics I have are super huge so I'll need to resize.

Good to have you back, and to hear about your trip!

Beware of Italian women, though - they start cute, but they age fast! Just something to keep in mind, is all. The old goat-herders from movies? Not made up.

Anyways, looking forwards to seeing some of the pictures!

Heh, funny thing. Omn is in Italy, and I just learned that the Italian National Baseball team will be using the Tigertown Stadium here in Lakeland for their spring training session in preparation for the World Series.
