Kraken, the Star Destroyer engaging TNO forces was destroyed and the rest of the ships fighting TNO are withdrawling. The ORS ships fighting the Anthos ships have surrendered.
I appologize about the shitty post, but I haven no choice. Alot of threads to keep up with and too little time.
Question about the nature of Defender Ion Mines: Are they automated or are they computer controlled?
In the beginning, it seems that they fired depending on enemy proximity. Now, you are saying the mines directional fire can be altered at will via computer control.
Which is it?
The quote used earlier was all the info I had and since you are building them, I would like clarification.
Personally, I don't see how individual mines can be computer controlled with any real efficiency from planet's surface and so would imagine they are proximity mines.
If so, you may still hit the SBCs (and keep damages) provided that you acknowledge that:
A: Defender Ion mines are within range of whatever they are protecting. B: Defender Ion mines fire omnidirectionally.
I am just asking for info here.
I would imagine that with what you say here, this is pretty much standard throughout the Coalition (where there are mines).
Well, the information I have(Essential Guide to Weapons/Technology) doesn't say anything on computer controlled or proximaty controlled.
I understand what you are saying about individual mines, but I don't operate them on an individual basis. I have always used them in sections which originally had at least 10 000.
Please note there are two different minefields.
Minefield One Infront of SY1, only 10 500 mines left in it(I think)
Minefield Two Infront of SY4, about 25 000 mines in it(I think).
Position of Shipyards SY3gapSY2gapSY1gapSY4gapSY5
CY is planet based, not exactly under the SYs, near a functional ion cannon.
As for your two points:
They don't fire in all directions. They have one cannon, and small thrusters to change what direction the gun is pointed in.
And yes this is standard where there are Defender Ion Mines.
I would like this clarified. Personally, I do not think that the mines should be computer controlled because even though you say you aren't commanding them individually (only in groups of 10,000 or whatnot) they still have to individually respond.
Now this is just my opinion and I've nothing concrete to base this except common sense.
I open this question up to other members, meaning if you have more information than what Jan and I have, please share.
Jan, again, I am not saying that if you say: "proximity" the damages to the SBCs cannot happen. I don't mind if they are damaged. I am just satisfying my curiosity.
I understand there are two different mine fields.
I didn't mention anything about a CY but ok.
ok.
I guess what I am saying is this:
Whether it's decided that mines are both computer controlled and proximity controlled or not:[/b]
Are your shipyards within range of mine field's weapons (assuming the mines are protecting yards)?
Because if they aren't: Then your entire field is moving back toward the planet (and yard who's orbit is deteriorating) since their thrusters need to move into range to hit the SBCs.
If they are in range: Then I can see how they could turn around, shoot, and hit my craft (whether according to proximity or comp control).
FYI: Those ships moved behind SY2 and then behind SY1 (between yards and planet) and are coming up on SY4 who's orbit is decaying. So the yard is moving away from the field as well.
2.I'm pretty sure this is the first time you mentioned SY4, so there isn't a reason for it's orbit to be decaying. I will check the entire thread though.
3.I will read up on the Defender Ion Mine and get back to you tomorrow(I have to get off my computer now, or else I'd do it now).
4.I mentioned the CY for future reference, because if you get the chance, I bet you will attack it as well.
I will be posting either tomorrow or Saturday (though I am going to try for tomorrow). It's just going to be a pain at work and am going to see LOTR tomorrow night.
