Anthos = Gone

For quite a while now Anthos has been inactive. Even its board vanished. I started working on one for here, on TRF, but I ran out of time, time and time again. So, it's come time to put an end to this horribly sluggish beast. The IC storyline ending is going to be like this (maybe some day I'll write something up, but right now I just don't have the time or gumption). People may have noticed that I'm not on as frequently, it looks like I may be doing this whole 'growing up' thing.

After the attack on Mon Calamari, which was a mixed bag of failure and success, and subsequent to the horrific terrorist attacks on its planets, the Anthos Republic voted President Isjhe Kaant out of office, and reinstated a Senate composed of representatives from each planet and territory.

After reviewing President Kaant's record, and stance towards the galaxy as a whole, the new Senate passed articles into position that essentially locked down the Republic. Almost all official diplomatic and economic ties with the rest of the galaxy have been forcibly severed (many budding intergalactic companies dying or moving out of the Republic because of this action), though it is rumored that several lines of communication are open to leaders of some of the Galaxy's larger governments.

The Senate withdrew a great deal of monies from the military budget, a personal pet of President Kaant's military advisor, and focused it instead upon civilian communications, transportation, health, and other issues. The amount of Vigil patrol groups were increased two-fold, and beefed up with the new Sentry-class patrol craft, while the many heavy cruisers and other more battle-oriented craft were decommissioned. Planetary Defenses, another pet of the former military advisor, were maintained at their traditionally heavy status', though the plans to continue increasing the amount of stations were abandoned in favor of providing defenses to the few planets that, while being in the Anthos sector, were not of the Republic. As said in a press-statement to the public, "We're focusing on increasing security, not preparing for battle."

It was also discovered that President Kaant had ordered, and successfully completed, the construction of a Sovereign-class Super Star Destroyer, complete with superlaser. The investigative council, recognizing the panic news of such a thing could create, immediately had the super weapon disabled, and the ship stripped of its military capacity. A call was made to the Vinda-Corporation, a transaction made, and the empty hulk has been sold. Rumor has it that the Vinda -Corporation has plans on turning the seventeen-kilometer hull into a traveling history museum of past governments from all over the Galaxy.

Also discovered, but kept under wraps, was the location of the long-fabled Aeten system. The Aeten II asteroid belt was searched, but it was apparent from the beginning that President Kaant had strip-mined the system most effectively of any crystals it may, or may not have contained.

Also during their investigation, the investigative council may have uncovered information leading to the discovery of a fabled bounty-hunting group that was believed to be based on the long-lost planet of Mandalore. Unfortunately, both the information and the two men who found it vanished without a trace.

In short, the Anthos Republic has faded back into the shadows of the public eye, from whence it came.

Ok, anyway, I think I'll do an IC-news style documentary for this later, but nothing more. It's been pretty irresponsible of me to have tried to keep this group going over the last few months, I've basically been in serious breech of the rules in regards to having a functioning board, and junk. I'll dump the links later, as well as fix the planet and R&D list when I have time. If Anthos is in any RP's that you wish to finish, feel free to NPC the people out.

Yes, it would be. This was why I let it sit, because the nature of the group is that it will leave everyone alone so long as it is left alone. And I didn't want people taking my work...

In that case, you'd better avoid Texas...

Not all of them.

BTW, Kas:

I would assume that since the rules forbid creating made up elements, they would also forbid destroying canon elements... I mean, TRF probably wouldn't let me say "Sorry, Bacta no longer exists."

Something to keep in mind, at any rate.

Aeten II has been an asteroid belt for as long as I've owned it. See here for where I got the info. So, while I did do an R&D using the stygium, I never built many of the craft because it would be illegal to do so when one of our reference points states that the planet doesn't have an abundant source any more.

Also, the rules don't forbid creating elements, they forbid creating planets that have existing elements. The rule was made after Xilen tried to take over several planets in the Tetan system that Kanbal had not created. Xilen said since the planets Kanbal owned were numbered, that meant that there were planets with the same properties with lesser numbers. Kanbal said that this wasn't true, since it was never stated specifically in canon that these planets existed (though, c'mon, who is going to start numbering planets at seven?).

So the element rule was created to prevent people from suddenly 'discovering' a planet deep in their own territory that magically had Bacta, Tibanna, etc.

Though, this rule wouldn't apply to this situation at all. Better to use the rule that explicitly forbids the destruction of canon planets with the Death Star.

Anyway, I think the previous owners RP'ed the planet as being an actual planet, but once their group was disbanded I took it over as an asteroid belt, and, IIRC, I stated that they had not actually been on Aeten II, but rather it's sister planet Aeten I. Or something. It's been a long time since I did that takeover.
