A soldier’s first battlefield is always within his own mind. But even that battlefield is not safe from the influence of the governments that start the wars. From the independent and highly controversial Viryn Quell, to the high and mighty Emperor Fearsons, and everyone in between, propaganda is but one weapon used against the galaxy.

A well-written rebuttal can be as much use in a galactic conflict as a Star Destroyer, and unlike that fearsome weapon of war it cannot be destroyed. Since the early days of warfare, propaganda has been used a weapon of war. The media has long been exploited, used to mask the true terrorism and change the views of the populace of the galaxy.

Take the New Order’s long-missing Admiral, Avein Drakiss. The flood of government-funded propaganda that came from this man’s mouth has painted a pretty picture of the Galactic Empire in the eyes of many, even those who were alive when the Death Star destroyed Alderaan. Although, in comparison with their partners at the former Rogue Empire, Emperor Fearsons and the ever-loveable Viscount del Forza, Mr. Drakiss really is a calming spirit.

And then we have the fanatical Dxun Isstal, leader of the Galactic Defence Initiative, who spent uncountable tax-payer credits on expensive holonet messages to Viryn Quell, over a variety of trivial issues that, frankly, don’t matter. Money that he would have otherwise used to fund his war machine, so maybe its not a total loss.

The government uses propaganda as a weapon to turn the people against their enemies. And those that believe the words that came from any leader’s mouth are to be pitied for their own idiocy. But then, they’ve grown so accustomed to heating the New Republic’s brave leaders lecture them on how bad war is, that they’ve given up being rational.

So, in a galaxy where a war of words is as destructive as one of fleets of ships, believe none of what you read, none of what you hear, and none of what you see on the holonet. I guarantee you that it simply isn’t true.
