Move Conicides with Agro Expansion
Developments on Ukio believed to be catalyst

The galaxy's financial community was caught off-guard yesterday as Belgardi Ltd announced a takeover/merger deal with the agricultural conglomerate Agro Inc. Belgardi (which is now being renamed Belgardi Universal) already a highly diverse company has suddenly become a major player in another staple galactic industry, sitting behind only the Salliche Ag Company in galaxy-wide food production.

The deal prompted a mixed response on stock markets around the galaxy, with exchanges on Bonadan and Sestria seeing Belgardi stock rise quickly, while Muunilist and several other major exchanges watching the stock hold steady or drop slightly. Agro Inc stock was up across the galaxy, but that was primarily due to other market conditions.

The takeover move comes on the heels of Agro's recent expansion, a move thought by analysts as an attempt to overcome the stigma associated with the recent terrorism probe on the company’s headquarters of Garqi. A massive asset transfer allowed Agro to buy up and absorb the major agricultural companies on the planet Ukio, whose governmental farming bureau recently one the highly lucrative Annoo Licensed Foods Contract. The subcontracting is almost assuredly slated for Agro and its Ukian partners, and is expected to lead to massive profits. Belgardi's sudden move may be in fact due to the windfall expected from the deal, as it will substantially raise Agro's stock, which had slumped somewhat in the fallout of the Imperial terrorism probe.

Although officially Belgardi is buying Agro, sources inside the company say that Agro's current structure is effective and that the integration into the larger Belgardi family will be handled slowly with efforts to preserve as much of the effective business model of Agro as possible.

"We aren't planning on gutting Agro- those people know what they're doing." said Belgardi Vice President Rayard Valoris. It is believed that Agro will continue to exist as a semi-independent division, a fact reinforced when it was announced that the Agro corporate hierarchy was being asked to stay onboard and help manage the company in its new fashion.

One notable Agro member who won't be back in his same role is CEO Hilter Afdol. Afdol, always known for his political ambitions (exhibited by a failed run for the Presidency of the Azguards) was recently selected to become the next Overliege of Ukio. The selection was unexpected and a complete shock to many political analysts who line up every ten years to watch the unique Ukian selection process. Afdol could not be reached for comment, but a spokesman said he had been asked to stay on as a consultant for the company he built from the ground up, and he "would try to help as much as he could without detracting from his new position."
