Recieving some sad news...(IDT Rebuttal)

Approximately an hour has passed since the IDTech announcement of the murders, just enough time to gather up the ad time and organize the transmission. In a broadband commercial over the holonets, the often seen seal of Maverick Munitions Incorporated shimmered into existance, like any other of thier ads. This one was different though, the image came directly from the MMI home office, and it was CEO John Petroski on camera.

He sat behind his desk, a grave look on his face and his dark grey suit spotless. His eyes had a sad but serious look to them, easily seen as he gazed deeply into the holocam. He blinked twice and began to speak.

"Both myself and all of us at MMI are most regretful to hear of this horrible occurance on Reecee. Death is always something to be regretted, particularly when those who have passed on are innocents, and have died violently. Loss of a child is yet worse, one always wonders what such a young one would have grown up to bring to the galaxy. Unfortunately we'll never know how this young woman's potential would have blossomed."

John blinked again, the slight glimmer of tears rimmed his eyes as the descriptive terms of the IDTech reporters recreated the crime in his mind. "I myself grew up on Toprawa during the Imperial occupation. In my youth I saw many of my fellow children waste away in starvation or blasted to bits by off-duty stormtroopers for sport. Please know that I don't take murder, particularly of women and children lightly. MMI Security works closely with the Fedje authorities here to make sure all such criminals are prosectuted to the full extend of the law and that they recieve thier just punishment."

"As for the accusations to our involvement in these grotesque slayings, I must vehemently protest. All such evidence presented so far is merely circumstancial. Fedje is an planet open to travel and trade, a bacterial sample would not be hard to gather, and the likelihood of it remaining in a soil sample on a shoe, boot, or other piece of clothing is so unlikely most experts would believe it to be a planted sample."

Petroski looked down for a moment, pressed a button on the arm of his chair, and a section of the desk opened up, a small display of MMI products rose up and angled for better camera viewing. On one half of the screen, close ups were projected of the knives that laid there, one by one and slowly rotating so all sides could be seen. "Likewise, I'd also like to reference the knife found at the scene. As you can see, all blades produced by Maverick Munitions hold the MMI seal, either on the grip or the pommel."

The current imaged flashed to that of the seal again, a sword embroiled in black flames behind a TIE Interceptor with the words Maverick Munitions Incorporated surrounding them all. "Each of these blades shown here have millions of units sold throughout the galaxy, such a weapon is not exactly rare."

"While I find the current evidence that points to my companies involvement to be very inconsequencial, I invite Reecee authorities to please contact me at any time if MMI can assist the investigation in any way. Such a killer must be caught, and punished for his actions. Once again I'd like to send out our condolences to the families of those who's lives were lost, our thoughts and prayers are with them. Thank you for your time."

John noded and the image swiftly faded from his visage to the MMI insignia, and then into nothingness.
