Propaganda, lies, and Death stars
  • Posted On: Oct 8 2003 4:20am
In the collective mind of the universe today one cannot turn on the holo-vid and not come accross a news program from the core making outragious claims that democratic governments are being tyrantical, oppressive and militaristic in their handleing of affairs.

Those of us that lived through the times of rule under emporer palpatines iron fist find none of this surprising. When the empire decided to disolve the senate they made the senate out to be the enemy.

Palpatine himself took office claiming that he would relinquish the temporary power that was placed in his hands. Several years later everyone saw the mistake of that.

Species accross the universe were enslaved. Humans begain to take a policy of superiority in the universe.

When the Senate was desolved the empire built the death star. A weapon of unparralled power. It destroyed one of the most peace loving planets ever to grace the universe. You all know that I speak of Alderaan. Just becuase of what it stood for the empire made an example out of it killing a defenseless population of billions for no other crime then thinking for themselves.

Ever empire that has followed has been no different. More recently the Jutrallian empire, formerly the Rogue empire tried to build a Death star. The project was halted due to staggering costs and labor shortages but the mere fact that they would ever try to recreat such a horror is beyond the comprehension of most of the civilized galaxy.

This 'New' Order is no different from the old. Spreading their lies with grains of truth trapped within. The alien populations are still considered second rate citizens to the human populations. Hardely any aliens work in the emperial navy. The human only policies continue here as they did in the 'Old' empire. Along with the lies that are spread to try and hide the truth of matters.

I emplore the civilized galaxy look past the lies and remember what the empire of old was becuase that is just the way that the empire of today is.

To all that read this periodical in the empire. Keep the faith for the force knows that you well one day know what it is to be free again.

From the Desk of Bhindi Drayson

In the days that followed the Galactic Coalition's Decleration of War, an alarming number of pieces of writers claiming to be 'independent' have come across my desk. The writings of the late John Snid come to mind whenever I am asked what fiction I have been reading lately.

It seems, in the collective panic following the Coalition's preemptive Decleration of War, people have begun to question the leadership of that Coalition.

And who wouldn't?

Since the Coalition alerted the galaxy at large that it was preparing for a full scale invasion of Imperial space, people have accused the Empire of the usual array of claims. Tyrany, corruption, greed. The same lingering arguments that have been thrown out again and again by the enemy's of the Empire to demean them.

And you know what?

It's not working! The Empire continues to thrive, continues to gain support from hundreds of independent worlds! Even as the Coalition prepared its warfleets for battle with the Empire, the Imperial Fleet was rallying itself, asserting itself to protect the planets of the Empire and their citizens.

There has been the usual slander directed at the Empire and its officers. Esteemed General Chau Ming, hero of the New Order, and Govenror Lupercus Darksword, have been among the targets of the Coalition and its allies.

But the Empire has stood strong! We have whethered the storm, as we have whethered many others.

There is a reason that the Empire has outlased so many Empires. The New Republic, the Jutraalian Empire, the Galactic Defence Initiative, the Soveriegn Chiss Empire, the Holy Demosthesian Empire, and dozens of others!

And this reason is the one inescapable proof of the Empire's righteousness.

The Empire works, people. The Empire has stood firm while hundreds of others, with their false ideologies, crumbled under the galaxy's unceasing tempest.

Only the New Order has stood firm against the onslaughts: the betrayal at Dantooine by the New Republic and the Jutraalian Empire. The recreation of a war machine by the former Rogue Empire. The debacle of the Wrath Virus, and Tilaric Brell's 'New Empire'.

And what more perfect way to elect the galaxy's true leader than Trial by Fire?

Recently, an article by a Caamasi named Ceen Sal crossed my desk. There was nothing of worth contained therein, but the same lies and propaganda that the Empire has survived for generations.

But one thing did peak my curiousity:
<blockquote style="padding-left:0.5em; margin-left:0; margin-right:0; margin-top:0; margin-bottom:0; border-left:solid 2">I emplore the civilized galaxy look past the lies and remember what the empire of old was becuase that is just the way that the empire of today is.</blockquote>

I must wonder at the sanity of the writer, because the Empire of Old and the Empire of New are not the same. The Empire of Old, under Emperor Palpatine, supported such acts as the destruction of Alderaan (a terrible tragedy perpetrated by the late Moff Tarkin) and the creation of weapons such as the 'Death Star'.

The writer should note that the last 'Death Star' was built not by the Empire, but by Chadd Fearsons and his 'Rogue Empire'. The writer should also note that the New Order allied itself, albiet temporarily, to destroy this battlestation before it became operational.

And finally;

<blockquote style="padding-left:0.5em; margin-left:0; margin-right:0; margin-top:0; margin-bottom:0; border-left:solid 2">outragious
handleing
emporer palpatines
desolved
Jutrallian
Hardely
emperial
emplore</blockquote>

A dictionary, and some understanding of grammar, are highly recomended when publishing to the holonet.

Press release:

Direct Evidence of Genicide of the Nubian city of Otta Gunga.

News release.

Holo vid from Otta Gunga itself.

Direct video evidence of the New Orders famed leader, Lupercus, setting and detonating the charges that destroyed the under water city killing the Gungans that lived there.

The Holo-video recorded gungan Sorra Bing while making an anthropological documentary on Gungan life. Well known to those of you that have ever watched the gungan produced program Bom'bad Morning. was verified as authentic by the colleges of Obrai-skai and New Alderaan.

The following are uneddited excerpts from her footage that has been released to the academic and news community at large only recently.

I warn you the following is quite graphic.

("The first two fell, blood streaming out of the gashes in their chest, their riders flying into the adjacent wall. The other three were too close behind, and their Kaadu mounts tripped on the bodies of their breatheren, their riders jackknifing into the ground, their necks snapping with a satisfying crunch as they impacted. Standing up, now almost entirely covered in blood, Lupercus walked over to the two Gungans he had initially knocked from his mount. They looked at him with pleading eyes, limbs contorted out of natural position, but their silent plea was met with a stony gaze, visiable bloodlust causing them to flinch and break eye contact.

"May the Force be with you...

@#%$."

His sabres arched down, ending the lives of the Gungans. With that Lupercus turned, and ran off down the corridors in search of more prey. ")

The image switchs to another scene now the Gungans now know that there was know way out had begun to panic. But one gungan reporter had kept his head long enough to transmit these scenes to the out side world before his unfortunate death.

("Crackerjack, we got some real fun!"

Despite his bravado, Lupercus did not yet want to deal with anything that could fight back. He wasn't in the mood. As she apeared to the side of him he kept running, the force enhancing his speed. She had cut across a bubble to reach him, but forgot that he was already moving towards Chikami moments later his Force enhanced speed almost ran him into the other Sith.

"Chikami, i'm thinking thats who you wanted to kill wasn't it?"

They spun to a stop facing the direction they had come. Lupercus grabbed a cowering gungan child and picked it up. Deactivating one of his sabres, he held the hilt up to the childs neck, ready to activate it as the circumstances dictated.

Lupercus laughed as he sensed padawans of pure jedi, the worst kind, swimming around the city, trying to find an enterance.

They'll be waiting for quite a while! So as soon as we kill this one, we'll have more sport!

Lupercus stared deeply at the woman. He sensed a strange mix of powers in her, Jensaari, Jedi and Aiki. Luckily that was to her detriment, since they collectively detracted from her force power by their very nature. He clasped the hostage tighter.

"Don't move or i kill the kid!"

He jabbed the hilt into the young gungans neck. He paused as he glimsed the absurdity of the situation, then laughed.

"What am i talking about!"

The snaphiss of the lightsabre was counterbalanced by the cold wet sound of a head flobbing to the floor. With a heave Lupercus tossed the body at Vonta, blood spurting everywhere from the childs neck. Lupercus cackled and ignited his sabres. )

The image flickers as anexplosion is heard but the image returns. In this fight an unknown fighter stands in their way the fighter was presumed dead with the rest of the city.

(The blow hurt, for sure, but Lupercus had a backup for that. As he flew back he twisted his body, making sure he landed on his feet. With a laugh, he pulled out a HF detonator.

"For each hit i endure, more gungans die!")

Much of the feed was lost but when the image returns again we find that it is the end for the gungans as the last defender is nowhere to be seen.

(Lupercus smiled as the C4 detonated the shields. Luckily Lup has chemically treated the explosives with the solvent so that Chikami wouldn't look like an idiot when he tried to do exactly what he just did.

Still, Chikami had finally crushed his past. Vonta was sent hurtling from life. Had she been a Master, Lup would have thought she was a ghost, but one lacking power like herself meant her death would be the end of Vonta Horn. Chuckling to himself, he put his rebreather in his mouth and lept through the hole Chikami had made. As he swam after his Master, Lupercus pulled out the detonator. There would be no more Oota Gunga. The last of the hidden gungan cities would be liquidated in the seismic explosion of the death of a Jedi.

Lupercus almost felt melancholy as he flicked the switch that killed millions more gungans, but in the end, he knew he was doing the galaxy a greater good.

The massive upsurge of water from the explosion sent both Lupercus and Chikami hurtling towards the surface, where more plunder awaits.

He hit a switch and two distant and concurrent explosions could be heard, along with screams of the wounded.

"Now what do you do?"

He put the detonator back and attached it to the failsafe switch. If it was removed, all the bombs he had placed would blow, killing almost everyone in the city. And the blood would be on Vontas hands.

Charging in, his sabres back to life, Lupercus slashed down at her exposed back while Chikami attacked from the front, his sabre active and working like a shaft of pure light in concert with his daggar. )

The leaders of This New Order ally them selves with dark force users. Their leader, a now proven mass murderer is a leading figure in their government. Not one that is unlike palpatine in the least for his cruelty.

Be strong all that think for them selves in the core. For there is ever hope with the light of the force ever present in our lives.

May the force be with you all.

Alrighty, now that the thread has been spiffied up...

Sure, there's an offhand chance there might have been a reporter in whatever Gungan city you're debating about, but that chance is weakened by the fact that nothing as such was role-played as happening during the thread. Unless you're using something that came directly from the thread (say, a citizen who was mentioned to have been slapped aside by the force), your position, Vonta, is weakened considerably.

What was the reporter doing there? If he was a Gungan reporter he wouldn't have been transmitting anything to the surface, all his recordings would be held right there in Oota Gunga. If it were an external reporter (Star War's version of CNN, or the History Channel?), he wouldn't have been broadcasting either. Networks only broadcast to an external source when they're reporting something live. Everything else is taped, and then manually transported to a physical building. Transmitting is too difficult to do for documentaries or reports, too much crap to haul around, and it's simply easier to tape it.

So while there might have been such a reporter, who managed to tape the fight, and somehow escape the death of the city with his camera and tape, the chances are lowered because a) He wasn't RP'd as being there, and b) You didn't really try explain how, why, who, what, where, etc, for your reporter. If you want such a report to be taken seriously, RP his escape out. Unless you do that, your report will be taken with a grain of salt the size of a dice.

(OOC: Sorra Bing, a gungan who hid among the bodies that were left at the escape intrance where gungans were being slaughtered and who also escaped the same way that the Sith did. She is a gungan so they have natural affinity in water.

(who, what, when, where, why + how)

Also note that the colleges of Obrai-Skai and New Alderaan are not under emperial control as of yet, so any claims of control are inmaterial. Claimed defined as ownership of planet or at least in the process of a take over. Until done planets remain independent

Edit: Jutraal was, before I mentioned it to Kas, not previously listed as also being new Alderaan in the planet list hence the confusion.)

The Imperial College of New Alderaan, otherwise known as the Jutraal College of Fine Arts, denounces any claims that this video was in any way certified by our establishment.

Our researchers are currently examining the film to determine its authinticity.
