ORS Still In The War -- Imperial Army Forced Back

Spaceport City, Abregado -- This morning the men and women of Abregado-rae awoke to the warnings of Admiral Ralen Me'Vere and his starfleet, ordering them to flee the cities where they took residence in order to avoid being caught in the cross-fire between Imperial and Outer-Rim forces. Within the next few hours, the Sovereign ships unleashed a huge volley of turbolasers that decimated Imperial held positions.

With refugee camps set up by the mobile ground command stations usually used as military bunkers by Star Destroyers, the cities hummed a quiet tune as the few stubborn, remaining persons chose to remain. Within minutes of the promised time, the Sovereign fleet unleashed again.

With the assistance of a second force that jumped in later, Imperial forces were hard-pressed to keep up with the constant slams against their bunkers and anti-air craft shells. It was a swift engagement - in comparison to the raging battle of Corellia and the daunting sieges known to be used by Imperial forces - that cost the Empire an estimated hundred thousand soldiers.

Said by many military advisors to be a "very lop-sided battle", the Sovereignty took a mere six hundred - most devastated during the descent through the atmosphere. One army personnel commented that "once we got on the ground it was pretty much all over" and that "the Empire was so weak by the time we landed, it was a simple mop up".

Various media personnel have attempted to contact Admiral Me'Vere, commander in charge of the fleet that took the planet from the Empire, who denied requests to comment, waiting instead for his press conference to address the public.

Imperial and Sovereign forces clashed at what can be described as "one of the first major ground battles of the war", where Imperial infantry fell to armored vehicles and rapidly-deployed Sovereign skirmish troopers.

Sergeant First-Class Drayork comments, "Yeah we met some major resistance at Avria City, lot of guys were killed. We took it though...but that was one of the uglier ones."

Avria City is one of the outlying cities about seven miles from the capitol Spaceport City.

After quickly seizing and neutralizing Imperial forces in the cities surroundig Spaceport City, Sovereign forces advanced and pressed one final assault against the capitol - which put up almost no resistance. Imperial forces fled to a bunker where they surrendered an hour later.

Many comment this to be a "superb military victory" and that it "ensures that the Outer Rim Sovereignty is still in this war".

This is considered to be the first of many up and coming major military victories against the Empire.
