A camera pans across the INS News Room while an announcer says “Imperial News Service – Your Most Trusted Name in News”

The shot zooms out and fades into the INS logo, which is quickly replaced by the anchor desk.

Anchor: Good evening, I’m Thomas Folor. Tonight, a fatal collision takes three lives as a freighter collides with a patrol craft following a chase and shoot-out over Imperial Centre. But first, Fleet Week is in full swing on and above Vladet. We no go live to Stu Groder, special correspondent.

The screen splits to show Groder, standing on the windswept surface with his trademark black trench coat blowing.

Stu Groder: Thank you. Behind me you can see the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Vladet Fleet Building, where at this moment dignitaries from at least three interstellar governments, including the New Order, are meeting. Among them, such names as Dolash, the leader of the Azguardian Galactic Military, and Jan Dondanda, of the New Coalition, um, General Grevious, on behalf of the Black Dragon Empire. Also here are Admiral’s Chandler, one of the heroes of the Battle of Corellia, Admiral Kraken, of course, and we’ve received word that Admiral Bhindi Drayson’s flagship has entered orbit just moments ago.

A: That’s quite a lineup of people, Stu. With that kind of personal presence, what kind of security measures has the Empire taken?

SG: Well, I can definitely tell you that anyone who tries to tackle Vladet right now would have to be bent on suicide – some of the best naval minds in the galaxy are here right now. And of course, security has been beefed up for the event – several additional ships have been added to Admiral Kraken’s Home Defence Fleet, and we do know that all the garrisons here on the surface have been strengthened. And that doesn’t even take into consideration the ships accompanying the dignitaries have brought with them.

A: Now, the proceedings have just begun with a ceremonial dinner. What have they been discussing in there?

SG: That’s right, Tom. So far, we’ve heard a lot of talk about Trade Accords between the respective governments. We know that Admiral Kraken has invited both the New Coalition and the Black Dragon Empire to sign formal treaties with the Empire. General Grevious, that’s the Black Dragon Empire’s representative, has said that they wish to expand their Imperium out of the Tion Cluster. They’ve got three outposts outside of their own system… not including some of the planets controlled by Kyric Zen and his internal command. Those would be Bakura, Tholatin, and a former Coalition world known as ‘Haven’.

A: And what does the Empire have to say about such expansion?

SG: Well, the Imperium wants to establish supply lanes to reach these worlds. The main problem this presents, of course, is that such lanes would be cutting straight through the centre of the Empire’s territory… But the negotiations seem to have been interrupted by something. Hold on…

The camera shifts to a better view of the Fleet Centre while Groder talks rapidly with another man. After a moment, the camera moves back.

SG: I’ve just been informed of a firefight in orbit. According to what we have so far, an unidentified cruiser of Mon Calamari design entered orbit and launched several shuttles. Shortly after, several ships opened fire, including the cruiser.

A: A Mon Calamari cruiser? Sounds like the Coalition to me…

SG: Not by the looks of it. The ship opened fire on the gathered ships, not just on the Imperial ships. At any rate, the older Mon Cal designs are so widely spread that this could literally be anyone. I believe the Vinda Corporation even utilizes some Mon Cal ships in their defence fleets… even the Empire has a number of the larger cruisers on hand.

A: Allright, we’re going to our first commercial break. We’ll be back with more on this breaking story in just a moment…

Anchor: Welcome back to the Imperial News Service – Your Most Trusted Name in News. In a moment, we go back to Vladet and the breaking developments there. But first, Gloria, I lost your number. We met last night at Evolution. Call me.

And now, we go back to Vladet and Special Correspondent Stu Groder.

Stu Groder: Thank you, Tom. Well, the situation… orbit seems… been resolved. The Imperi… fleet mo…zed, … looks like the …ry guns …anaged to disable the interlopers.
At the moment, … ‘terrorist …’ as the cause of …

A: Well, I’m afraid we’ve suffered a mechanical malfunction with Mr. Groder. But there you have it, exclusive details on Fleet Week, and a possible terrorist plot. We’ll have more on this story as it develops.
