Plots Against Capital
Conspirators Start War On Tholatin
By: Jerik Somir II
Offworld conspirators against the galactically acclaimed peace seekers of the Tholatin Republic have infiltrated the populace and started anti-republic sentiments. And that took place months ago. Now those feelings have spread among the populace and many have begun to riot in the streets. It appears that the southern hemisphere feels that the government is right and just, but the northern hemisphere believed Prince Vondiranach's government is corrupt and must go. Prince Vondiranach, on the other hand, is nowhere to be found.
"He's off doing another of his duties to the Republic of Tholatin in its defense. I will not say where as it will compromise his cover," said Radon Mont, acting leader of the acclamied Demonite Knights.
Fighting has broken out on the equator of the planet and, even without armored vehicles or spacecraft, the fighting has already become bloody. Thousands have already died as the Prince's soldiers have divided themselves in how they feel and their loyalty. Less than half of them remain in his service, but they are equally as well off considering the southern hemisphere houses more people.
"We may have more people, but we have less trained soldiers. Sure the people want to fight alongside of us, but if we allowed that then they would just get slaughtered," said an anonymous soldier on the battle lines.
No word has been heard of the government asking for off-planet assistance in the battle for control of the planet. The government feels that they are strong enough to win this war no matter how long it takes. They seek a diplomatic solution, but every diplomat sent to the North to talk comes back in a coffin with a note that says "We will not negotiate with the oppressors that call themselves a government."
As half a million troops march North towards the border, more than a million await them in the fields of the North to wage war upon sight. The troops defending each side or so skilled in battle that the odds bet none of them will make it out alive for when the last two men meet, it is said that the one that is shot will still find a way to kill his killer.
This has been Jerik Somir the second reporting to you live from Tholatin. More news as it happens.
