Glee Anselm Responds in Outrage to Coalition Insult
Coruscant - Rotunda
An enraged Nautolan President, Desana, took the podium this morning in response to the insulting words made last night by Solicitor Marth Meer of the Galactic Coalition. Specifically, "Also the League of Nations is an elitist group, designed the protect the interests of the Core Worlds. The Coalition feels that the time of all power in the galaxy being held in the Core Worlds is over. As you all know over the years I've been very involved concerning the Outer-Rim planets banding together, to protect their interests. The vast majority of the people in the galaxy don't live in the Core Worlds. We wish to protect the interests of all of our member planets not just an elite few."
So overcome with emotion was the Nautolan President that his voice was choked. "After having come from a devestated world that was illegally occupied by the Coalition Military, they have the audacity to call us elitists!
From the beginning we only wanted to live in peace! IN PEACE!
Our worlds of the League of Nations find ourselves between both the Empire and the Coalition and your fighting and warring and want no part of it. The fact that, with the help of the Imperial Supreme Commander, we were able to broker an agreement for the establishment of this organization was a boon for worlds looking for an option other than joining your war!
How does that make us elitist?
Because most of our members are located in the Core? It's a regional organization! We do not claim to represent the entire galaxy. We only represent the interests of our members. We are group of worlds trying to survive amid the hate between Empire and Coalition.
The Empire's INS agency has always mentioned how the Coalition only accepts those who believe the same as them and agree to fall under their flag. Any other type of peace or arrangment was unacceptible. I did not believe that! I refused to believe that! But in light of the comments made by Mr. Meer, I see the contempt with which he looks upon our organization, I see the prejudice and inflexibility as he acknowledges no peace or organization other than his own. It is not the Empire's propaganda that has swayed me but your own contempt for us.
If any damage has been done to our efforts to bring peace to a region of the galaxy, it would be from the one place I had not thought possible. From a government supposedly espousing the ideals of the Republic. From a government supposedly being supported by the Jedi Order.
And after all we've done for you! We've saved Tihrann from attack by the Empire. We've gotten that agreement! But, apparently that does not impress you.
The League of Nation's is not hailing itself as the galaxy's only hope. We do not claim power over any other world but those member planets that choose to join us!
We just wanted to live in peace and separate from your wars...because we don't have the power to stop you, we can take measures to protect ourselves.
Even then," his voice darkened, "my planet still suffered."
"Whatever the Empire's and Coalition's differences are, they have nothing to do with us. However, as a member of the League, the Empire is duty bound to provide aid and support to us in our need and they have been exemplary in this. Even planets not aligned with the League have come forth for which we are eternally greatful.
As a matter of point, however, the soldiers being held by the Empire (as our infrastructure is in no condition to resume normally as we are rebuilding our planet and society) are not being charged with the attack. They are being charged for illegal occupation and storing weapons of mass destruction upon our world. I must admit that when Coalition soldiers and a military base was found upon our world, the Empire was wise to take custody of them lest our rage be taken out on them.
And it was a shock.
In light of some Imperial elements that may suggest the Coalition is culprit behind the attack on our world. Despite the irresponsible way the Coalition has, of late, carried itself and despite their insults to our institution and way of life, we do feel that their people should not be tried for an attack they may not have committed.
However, we do not welcome nor accept any commission from the Coalition Proper as such efforts may remain biased. What we will accept is an investigation team from those that neither have insulted us or looked with contempt upon our institution and therefore we feel would remain objective regarding an attack against our sovereignty and society. The team we accept should be headed by and comprised of the Anx or fellow League of Nation member Tirhann. If Mr. Meer does not accept their own member then quite frankly, we will wait for an Imperial investigation as their conduct to us has been exemplary.
There will be no extradiction of the prisoners however and they will remain in Imperial hands for the time being. I say this again, we have not charged them with the attack nor will we without evidence.
Your war and your punitive raids are not our business nor do we care for your politics. They will not be brought into this investigation and the first time we hear of an attempt to do so will be the last time you set foot upon our world.
We may be shattered ... but we are not broken.
Despite insult and despite those powers who ironically cannot find merit in our quest for peace, we are committed to succeeding."
