Chiss Forces Assault Mon Calamari
MON CALAMARI, Warships once more threatened the fragile peace enjoyed by the inhabitants of Mon Calamari, the water world famed for producing the combat starships used by the Alliance during the Galactic Civil War, as vessels of war appeared in the skies, claiming to be from the Sovereign Chiss Empire and demanding an immediate surrender of all Mon Calamari forces present and abroad.
According to an unknown spokesman, apparently not of the Mon Calamari Republic but from one of their supporting factions that make up the "Coalition of Lightside Factions", the Chiss have threatened Mon Calamari with "yet unidentified weapons of mass destruction", which is, if true, a direct violation of Intergalactic Law.
The spokesman also said, in a general message of distress to all peoples of the galaxy, "They demand rulership of the peaceful world and its' republic, one which fought with the rebels for freedom, one which stood firm against the evils of this galaxy."
The Chiss seem to reiterate this claim in their publicized Terms of Surrender, stating, "The Planets Mon Calamari, Kamino, and Ando are to come udner the governance of the Dark Alliance, whereas Mon Calamari shall be awarded to the Sovereign Chiss Empire, Ando is to be awarded to the joint custody of Jutraalian Empire and the Sovereign Chiss Empire, and Kamino is to be awarded to the New Order. "
The statement also seemingly proves earlier rumours that both the Jutraalian Empire and the New Order fully support and condone this attack, even if they do not offer warships. Whether Imperial vessels will arrive at Mon Calamari, or other occupied worlds, remains to be seen, but according to some military anylists, is not unlikely.
According to former Commodore Harlen Remkein of the New Republic, "It makes sense to split your attack between several worlds. If the main party - in this case the Sovereign Chiss Empire - cannot afford to spare warships to launch multiple fronts, they will often rely on their subnordinant or allied factions to strike at other worlds." Asked whether the fact that such action has not yet occured, he said, "If the Chiss can draw the Mon Calamari fleets, and the fleets of her allies, into the homeworld, than Imperial ships arriving later in the game can virtually walk all over the worlds that have been left undefended."
Other Galactic Powers with starfleets at their disposal, such as the Hapan Consortium, the Crimson Rebels, LFX Industrial, and the Vinda-Corporation, have not offered support for either side thus far in the conflict.
Kamon Vondiranch, the Prince of Tholatin and CEO of Tholatin Drive Yards, a member of the CLF, has commented on the war, saying that this is an "unprecedented attack on the Mon Cal's" and that "the perpetrators will be brought to justice by the coalition." Kamon has also said that the Sovereign Chiss Empire is "very dangerous and are threatening Genocide." He declared with no hesitation, "We [the coalition] will stop them."
Seti Ashar, CEO of LFX Industrial, was unavailable for comment, but a spokesman for the company said, "We do not believe that the application of armed force in this case is justified." The vague comment does not give answer as to whether or not LFX Industrial will provide military support for the defence of Mon Calamari, but a fleet officer has stated that they have been given orders to prepare the fleet with emergency medical and speciesatarium supplies, including chemical and biological treatment agents.

Millions take to streets to protest war
IMPERIAL CENTRE, Millions of protestors filled plazas and walkways on Coruscant today to protest the Sovereign Chiss Empire's war on the Mon Calamari Republic.
"We're not supporting the MCR, or the SCE," said one protestor who braved thunderstorms to march for peace, "but we don't think that there is any reason for war. I want the Chiss and their allies to give us a reason for this war, and then maybe some of us will be satisfied."
Some protestors held hand-made signs reading "No More Bombs" or "War: No Way!". Others carried more slanderous placards, bearing such messages as "Hyfe fucks Xilen's @#%$" and "@#%$ yourself, Zilen, it's cheaper!". Imperial Riot Police clashed with protestors in the Sienna District when the demonstrations turned violent and speeders began to get smashed.
More than one hundred arrests were made.
Across the galaxy, protests took place on more than a thousand planets, including Corellia, Commenor, Mon Calamari, Ord Mantell, and Tholatin. Estimates range from 500 million protestors to more than three billion.
Several hundred protests were forcibly put down across the galaxy.
