"...Leaving the Vice-President in charge. We now go over to entertainment news with our arts correspondant Tiki Lao, reporting to us live from Adalorn with some breaking news."
"Thanks John. I'm here at Studio 44, a small but growing studio company here on Adalorn, that's recently released plans for a holomovie about the infamous Battle of Corellia between the Coalition and the Empire. I have with me here former actor and current chair and director of Studio 44, Cory Kokomo, to tell us all about it."
The gentleman with the roguish smile took Tiki's microphone with grace, and turned to the camera. "Thank you Tiki, I'm Cory Kokomo and my team have been doing a bang-up job on our latest film, which is to say we've been banging on the film and trying to get our equipment to cooperate."
"I take it you've had a few technical problems, Mr. Kokomo?"
"Oh a few," he said airily, passing the microphone back. "We'd also be going over-budget if we used - get this - spaceships, so apparently we're remaking the battle of Corellia sans spaceships. Don't ask me how, I just direct the damn thing, that's for the writers to figure out."
A little surprised, Tiki pressed forward with the interview. "Could you tell us a little about the movie itself?"
"Oh sure," he said, waving dismissively. "But that's boring. History boring. We took a few creative liberties with the battle and the casting to make things a little more interesting, you know? The Drayson/Lupercus sex scene had to be cut for time, which I think really hurt the overall dramatic nature of the script, but otherwise, y'know, we've had a good time."
"Mr. Kokomo, you do know this is a galactic broadcast, do you?" said a stunned Tiki.
"Oh sure," said Cory, who was already wandering away, "but if you'll excuse me, we have to film the kung-foo fight between the Sith and Jan Dondana now. Turns out Lightsabers are trademarked by both the Jedi and the Sith, and they've got some wicked-mean lawyers. So we're back to martial arts for now."
"I'll see if I can catch someone coming off the set now," said Tiki, as she approached the edge of a replica ship's bridge. "Mr. Wallace, as one of Studio 44's biggest and youngest stars, what role are you playing in this film?"
James, with a certain youthful charm, cracked a smile from under a blonde wig. "Who, me? I'm playing Jan Dondana - the leader of the ill-fated First Coalition fleet. It turns out in history Jan didn't do much commanding in the battle, so we've revised the boarding action against his flagship to include him a lot more."
"Really? And what about the commander of the second fleet, Regrad? Who's playing him?"
"Oh," said James, who deflated a little. "Well, we couldn't get any real Azguards to play the part, so we've had to use some CGI and animatronics to recreate him. He's voiced by Jeremiah, though, an old Studio stalwart, so the effect is pretty neat."
"What about historic bias?" asked Tiki, pressing the microphone close. "There's been a lot of propaganda and spin about the Battle of Corellia, how do you intend to portray it faithful when it's still so fresh in so many minds?'
"Well, we had a lot of trouble at first, trying to find out everything that happened," said James. "But then Doug had this great idea to just make stuff up to fill in the gaps, so we've had a lot easier time of it. As for bias, we're just using what's out there right now - we're not trying to make a documentary, we're trying to make a fun film that people can relate to."
"Any final thoughts?"
James reflected for a moment, before replying. "Yeah. Seriously, what's up with the kung-foo? Do Sith even know kung-foo? I thought those were monks."
"Well, that's all the time we have right now, thank you Mr. Wallace. Back to you in the studio, John."
