Secondly, i read all the rules and such, and am likign the idea.

Thirdly, i'm entirly lost.

I've never played a Star Wars RPG of any kind, and really want to. Is there a special format i must follow when i write my character?

Wilkommin zu den Rebell Splitterpartei!

(it has recently come to my attention I have been saying Blespilartei instead of Splitterpartei, please pretend I said the above in all cases)

Actually, I suppose it depends on what sort of character you want to create. You can go it alone and post a biography (meaning you'll have to think up a credible history for your character [what he/she/it has done till now, etc..] The history can be general if you wish to explore it later in roleplaying.

As you gaze at the Biography forum you'll see a lot of bio's and many comments about them. While the staff does not have an official "approval" system for bio's as they are sort of relatively new you can see which bio's will get the third degree from helpful and not so helpful members and which ones won't.

Basically involves common sense.

Your character can be good, bad, indifferent [animal, vegetable, mineral].

We like to extend to you (the writer) the level of creativity you would like to apply.

Take a look at our Official Timeline in the Biography Forum to get an idea of where our "galaxy" differs and separates from what you've read about in Star Wars canon.

Alot of newbies like the "Sitting in a bar waiting for something to happen" rp's which is why we set up Astral Astoria as a rather smaller setting. Some rp's get picked up and some get left alone. Alot will depend on what you yourself put into your character and story.

If you don't wish to start in the Astral Astoria forum, you don't have too. The major factions in the galaxy at the moment are on the planetlist (in OOC forum) and each has their hand in the Battleground cookie jar. (Side Note: Just because it is called the Battlegrounds does not mean it's only for battles. Many a storyline roleplays of drama, romance, humor and action exist there.

These represent a mountain of work done by their respective members and while each vary at a given time in activity levels (depending on writers/players real life obligations) we try to respect (mostly) that work.

If your story will involve a world that is "owned" by any faction on the planetlist, feel free to go to that faction's individual board and let them know you are there and what you are doing. It is not a requirement but if you are going to cause a ruckuss, it's good manners.

If you are starting from Coruscant, Capital of the Empire nowadays, don't feel that just having your character there means you have to contact the New Order. Many newbies start there and that's fine. TNO will not have millions of stormtroopers shooting you down for being present.

Anyway, hope this helps.

Also, i've never played a Star Wars RPG before, and i read the rules and such, but still don't get what an rp game is in this forum and how you play it. Is it with other people or what?

Hi, and welcome to TRF. Yes, everyone points out some good points, except for:

...and by fanfic, I hope you don't mean any Twi-lek/Amidala fantasy posts...

Completley contradicting the above statement, you can write to your heart's content so long as it stays clean enough to be read by 13 year old or so.

There's enough crap like that on the net already...

Ohhh the Irony.

Oh, and if you want to be a n00b forever , then only post in general, lest ye incur the wrath of the RPers...
