Fondor Cover-Up?

Independent HoloNews Network Airs Video Featuring Brutus Nogoth
GLF Leader claims responsibility for attack on Fondor

Questions abound today, as the independently owned Galactic Media Group (an alternative Holonet provider financed by millionaire Maximillian Vertigan) publicly aired a holovid in which Brutus Nogoth, head of the Galactic Liberation Front (GLF) terror network claimed responsibility for the attack.

"We had made a decision to hold the tape back, because we were unsure of its authenticity, and as a gesture of respect for the families of those involved," said Vertigan, who regularly writes pieces for the news portion of the GMG and acts as the groups editor-in-chief. "However, following the publishing of the White Nova Line's report on the incident, and receiving confirmation that other media outlets had received an exact copy of the tape, we decided to go through with the release."

According to Vertigan, GMG became aware that the INS had received a copy of the GLF tape, but due to political pressure was forced to keep it under wraps. A confidential INS source confirmed that the Fondor affiliate of INS had received the tape about six hours before the attacks occurred, and produced a copy of the tape at Vertigan's request.

"You hate to give those lunatics a platform, but this incident raises serious questions about the INS and its Imperial watch-dogs."

It is uncertain if the White Nova Lines commission, which published a report on the incident recently, had any knowledge of the existence of this tape.

"If they did, and went ahead with the malfunction conclusion, they're either grossly incompetent, or were pressured to cover the situation up." Vertigan said. "If they didn't, the question is why?"

The tape has all the trappings of Nogoth's previous releases- he is alone on camera, wearing clothing diametrically opposed to the solid background against which he is speaking. Preliminary tests seemed to match the noted terrorist voiceprint from previous confirmed releases.

"The INS did proclaim Nogoth was dead, which could be why they aren't taking this seriously. I never thought that claim had any evidence behind it at all."

A full viewing of the tape, as broadcast by the GMG, is seen below.

*Camera shows Brutus Nogoth, clad in his white formalwear, against a solid black background.*

"Greetings, citizens of the Galactic Empire. Since this video is being viewed across the galaxy, I will assume that my latest appeal to your esteemed ruling class will have become front-page news. I'm sure the INS will be decrying my actions as barbaric, and simultaneously explaining how someone who is supposed to be "dead" could commit an act of terrorism.

In my previous addresses, I have been adamant in my message, and I stand by my words. Change is Coming to the galaxy. I had hoped that the actions of my organization would convince the oligarchy of oppressive overlords at whom they were targeted to begin reforms on their own. I was not surprised when they failed to take nay action.

The attack at Fondor is my final warning.

The Empire is not alone in its oppression, but it is by far the most egregious offender. However, in the eyes of the Emperor, by addressing the Empire, I address the galaxy."

*Nogoth is seen reaching into his jacket and removing a datapad.*

"We recognize one all encompassing Empire whose purpose is to ensure order and stability in the galaxy, to spare the vanquished and subdue the proud, to defend its citizenry, and to propagate the Empire's message to the galaxy. We recognize the Empire as the sole legitimate government in the galaxy, and as such the galaxy and the Empire should be considered one in the same

For the uninformed, that is from the Empire's own declaration of principles, a document that masquerades as a mandate for rule. And that's just the first paragraph. It gets better.

We recognize one absolute sovereign Emperor as the ruler of the Empire. To defy the Emperor is to defy the Empire. The Emperor has complete authority in all matters and there is not, nor any need for, an oversight committee to approve the Emperor's decrees. The Emperor's word is law until such time as He decides to change it. The Emperor is the sole holder of Imperial power, there is not and cannot be any consort of sharing of power.

The absurdity of a single man trying to rule over trillions of sentient beings, who's word is a topic which I have no interest in discussing right now, but for the sake of simplicity I'll play along with that outlandish notion."

*Camera Zooms in on Nogoth, framing only his head in the frame*

"Emperor Hyfe, I have issued my final warning.

Until now, our attacks have been focused primarily at you, and your apparatus. Your military machine, the bloated juggernaut that has caused the suffering of countless billions, your infrastructure which warps the economy and devastates the environment, and your leaders, your puppets whose governance is answerable only to your whims. It has never been my intention that the people whom you have crushed beneath you suffer any more so than they already do.

However, it has become apparent that only the most drastic of measures will have any hope of saving the galaxy from the nightmarish future that you seem intent on seeing come to fruition- a future filled with war and chaos, oppression and slavery, and untold amounts of unnecessary destruction and torment.

I cannot in good conscience, allow your vision of the galaxy to come to pass, even if it means that I must pull no punches, leave no method, no tactic unutilized.

*Nogoth's face disappears, but he continues as a voice over*

Hyfe, Imperial leaders:

*Bullet Points pop up, text overlaying an otherwise blank screen*

1)Renounce your claim that the Empire is the only legitimate government in the galaxy.

2)Immediately halt all expansion into neutral or otherwise sovereign systems.

3)Remove all occupying troops from the planets you have subjugated by force of arms.

*Nogoth's face reappears*

"If you do not publicly agree to take steps to meet these conditions, and make progress in an acceptable amount of time, then the GLF will be forced to begin this process in our own way.

Citizens of the Galactic Empire... members of this galactic community... remember that it is your leaders who are responsible for looking out for your welfare. If they fail to undergo these reforms, the consequences will be grave indeed. I ask you a question, whose welfare are they truly concerned with?

Do they care more about increasing their own power, or do they truly have your best interests at heart?

My demands are easily met, and would still leave Emperor Hyfe as the most powerful man in the galaxy. If he fails to accept, then he is responsible for the consequences. I have confidence that you will hold him responsible...

The wave of change is coming..."
