Council of the Last of the Faith - Sanctuary
"It's a what?"
The duration of the silence that lingered after her words seemed to last forever. An endless silence... the kind that lingered after a long battle, and the kind that accompanied death. The soft sounds of the thick jungles that surrounded the New Republic's remnant headquarters continued to linger. Soft chirps, and moans emerging from the distant darkness of the forests.
Finally, the Captain had the nerve to speak after a hard swollow. "It's a three thousand meter warship in orbit around Yelsian, Lieutenant Fairchild." again he paused to take a hard swollow as small beads of sweat collected on his neck and forehead. "Our scout fighters indicate that it has enough weapons to take on the entire Republic fleet alone, and enough manpower to finish us off in one swift stroke."
Again the lingering silence of death hung ominously over each of them. Everyone sat in shock and panic. A single ship with enough power to blow them off of the face of the Galaxy had discovered them... discovered the last remnant of the New Republic.
"Is it Imperial?" she asked quickly as she stood. A nervous sweat had already begun to collect on her neck as well, but she remained calm and collected as any leader would in a time of crisis. Mon Mothma did, Princess Leia Organa did, and so would she. Lianna could sence the fear in the air, so thick that it could almost be tasted on her tongue.
"We... don't know. I've never seen anything like it, Lieutenant." His voice cracked, and once again the young Captain took a hard swollow as he dared to continue with his next words, "except in an Imperial Super Star Destroyer...."
The tan color of her skin flushed away as if it had never been there as the words lingered endlessly in her mind. If they Empire discovered them, they would be finished. Destroyed from Galactic history again, only this would be the last time. They were the last of the Republic. The last of everything that the Republic stood for.
She hunched over one of the many vacant seats in the command center, her head heavy with worry and sorrow. "Prepare Rogue, Ace, Bravo, Champion, and Contender squadrons for immediate combat. We cannot afford to loose this base!" Once again, her leadership instincts returned to her as she jumped to assigning tasks. "Captain Vespa, recall every member of the military that we have to immediate service. We've got two hours, ladies and gentlemen. Two hours before we meet with what could be our final conflict."
Desperation filled her eyes as she pursed her lips in deep thought as the room began swarming around like a bee's hive full of activity. Finally, the red alert siren whailed in the distance, and the soft hum of X-Wing engines ignited. Lianna walked briskly down the empty corridor, followed closely by a protocal droid, and two special operations troopers. The hanger was only a few hundred yards from the main command center, but it was quite a jog.
"May the force be with us...." she muttered as she turned the corner, entering the fighter hanger.
