The life of Sarce Livial was not once as peaceful and inspiring. Once, Sarce’s life was filled with organisation, power and investment. Greed and money flooded the mind and soul of Sarce with a tainted sacrifice. His life was not as it is today. His story is one of power, success and anguish. This is the past of Sarce Livial.

The tiresome and messy look that overcame Sarce with the lack of sleep that he was cursed with every day had become much worse since the business empire took a new turn. His life had become one filled with business and power. There was no pleasure nor was there pain within this life. Or so that is what the world had been shown. Sarce was a man of disguise and masquerade. What was shown to the world was not the true soul that lay beneath. This was hidden within the confines of his mind.

The baggy and dark eyes were ugly and unprofessional, his face was creased with light wrinkles and his hair was in a state of disorganisation. All this came from the lack of sleep that Sarce had to suffer with. As he struggled to boost his appearance in the mirror, his thoughts were full of business and schedule. What was it that Sarce had to do to be free of this life? He wondered each night as he sat in his office, searching for an answer. The answer was yet to be found.

His hands were cupped as he drew hot water into his hands from the sink. It was hot and scalded his fingers as he rubbed moisturiser and soap into his hands and threw water across his face. He rubbed facial wash across his face and splashed it away with another cupped hand full of water. The wrinkles had become unnoticeable under the wash and his eyes had become the deep and meaningful hue that gave a sense of trust and professionalism that was needed in the business.

As Sarce turned towards his desk, he could see his suit hanging on the wardrobe. The black trousers pressed to perfection, the shirt showing no creases and sparkling, the dark navy blazer showing no signs of dirt and unseemliness. His secretary had done all this for Sarce. How would he live without her.

Sarce started loosening his clothes and slowly undoing the buttons of his clothes. The routine was full of ease and simplicity yet each day, Sarce took his time removing his clothes. As he lay naked in his office, he wondered whether pleasure would ever enter the business world. He doubted it. He grabbed the clothes quickly from hanger and threw them on with haste. He had only just noticed the time.

As he placed his blazer over his shirt and slipped on his polished shoes, he heard the evident sound of the intercom being connected. The line was from his secretary. He knew what this meant. His breakfast, schedule and reports would be sent in immediately via his secretary. From then on, his life was business orientated and his life was a schedule.

“Sir, am I free to bring you your morning meal, schedule and reports?” His secretary asked through the intercom. She already knew the answer yet decided to ask the question every day. Why? Sarce did not know.

“You are.” Sarce said politely and quickly.

The intercom connection was broken and he heard the typical sound of the door to his office opening. He rushed behind his desk and sat in waiting for his secretary to enter. The secretary entered. Tall and young, she clearly had greater potential than the position of secretary. She would be given a managerial position some day. Some day.

The tray was full with papers. Only a small section of the tray was covered in a plate. It was the typical routine. His secretary entered, laid the tray before him and gave him the usual pleasantries. His life was typical. All of this was typical. The tray had his schedule for the day and the business reports. The meal consisted of toast, a protein drink and a bowl of salad.

“Here are your daily reports, schedule and meal, sir. How are you today?” His secretary asked.
“I am how I must be. I am happy. How are you?” Sarce asked, knowing the answer beforehand.
“I am well. I must leave you now sir. Enjoy your meal.” She said before leaving the room.

The power and greed that overcomes a man when he placed into a position of success and uprising is greater than that of a normal man. Once power has been had, greed quickly follows. Sarce Livial is but a man and the statement above applies to him as it does to others. He fell into a pit of greed, wealth and power.

The conference table was lined with figures from all sectors of his business empire. There were representatives from the far reaches of the galaxy hoping to delve into the profits and trade that Sarce’s empire provided. There were figures from Sarce’s headquarters and there were even a few new figures. Sarce would be explaining the benefits of joining his empire.

“Generalization is the main fault that lies with many business empires. They tend to generalise their position within the government and generalise their progress. We are not like other business empires and I shall not generalise what I have been told.” Sarce said. He paused for a moment to collect his thoughts.
“As I read through the daily report which was given to me by my secretary, I was astounded to see a peculiar headline within the document. It seems that a planet, namely Xionti, has asked for a trade route connecting to the planet to be established and materials to be transferred from there. I ask of you people, who is the representative of Xionti?” Sarce asked, waiting for a response from one of the new figures that sat at the conference table.

Strangely, nobody answered. Sarce was confused. Surely if Xionti was to establish a trade route with Sarcial Enterprise, the Xionti government would be sure to send a representative to finalise the details. This was not as it should be. Still, Sarce could do no more. He would contact the Xionti government later on and explain that a trade route could not be established through lack of participation on their behalf. Sarce continued the meeting.

“In other details, I would like to congratulate you all in the recent succession of a new rise in profits. Our stocks are now worth 136.7 imperial credits whereas only a few months ago, there were worth 97.3 imperial credits. The large rise in worth has come from the decision to establish ourselves within the armament market and we have had major business from this decision. Congratulations to you all.”
“Secondly, I would first like to ask my secretary to enter the conference.” Sarce said before establishing an intercom connection with his secretary.

“Mrs. Davian, would you please enter the conference room immediately?” Sarce asked politely.
“Yes sir, would you like me to bring anything?” She replied. She was certainly a good secretary.
“No, Mrs. Davian, just bring yourself. Thank you.” Sarce said and disengaged the connection.

A knock was heard on the door and Sarce knew that it was his secretary. He beckoned her into the conference room and offered a seat close by his side. What would come next would astound the businessmen of his empire. It would certainly astound his secretary.

“Gentlemen and ladies, I would like you to offer our applause as we congratulate Mrs. Davian on her latest promotion. She has been a loyal and dedicated secretary to myself and I wish her the best of luck in her new position as Project Manager within the Kashyyyk system.” Sarce said.

He turned to look at Mrs. Davian and saw the pride and happiness that filled her soul beaming within her eyes. He stood and she stood rather shakily. She was certainly in a state of shock. He offered his hand and she shook it with pride. As Sarce looked around the room, he saw the faces smile at him. This would be the last time that he would see his subordinates. Sarce remained standing and asked Mrs. Davian to be seated. The businessmen looked confused.

“In graver news, I must tell you of some important news. I have been the owner of Sarcial Enterprise for many years and I am growing old and tired of routine, schedule and business. Who here is the immediate subordinate to myself?” Sarce asked. This person would become the new owner of Sarcial Enterprise.
“I am, sir.” A short, middle-aged man said.
“Excellent. I would ask for you to stand and take my place at the head of the conference table. You are now the new owner of Sarcial Enterprise. The news will be delivered to the public in a broadcast at 1730hrs. If you wish to continue the meeting. I will be leaving this place at 1900hrs.” Sarce said.

The search for new life is not as easy as it seems. Once one life has been discarded and burnt, it becomes a past that haunts and torments the soul. Only will a man be free once the truth path of destiny has been found. Until then, the past shall haunt and torture all who seek new life.

As Sarce sat at his desk, clearing away the mess and clutter that was often a sign of lack of organisation and a confused mind. Sarce sat riffling through documents and papers, throwing those that were unimportant to one side and documents that were important were placed into the appropriate folders. This is Sarce’s life. Or it was Sarce’s life.

His former secretary entered without even being beckoned. Sarce was shocked and amazed at the sudden change that was portrayed by Mrs. Davian. She was angry and hurt for some reason and needed to speak. Sarce wanted to speak but couldn’t find the words to explain what he was trying to say. What could he say to her? There were no words that could resolve the hidden anger and hurt that both Mrs. Davian and Sarce felt.

“Sarce, how could you do this to me? Why are you leaving? You are so successful and powerful yet you resign. For what reason is this?” Mrs. Davian asked. The questions were short and easy to answer.
“I have not done anything to you. I am leaving because this is not my destiny. I seek truth and knowledge, not power and wealth. I am longing for freedom and power.” Sarce explained, wondering why Mrs. Davian was so hurt.
“You have done more than leave an excellent position. You have left me.” She answered in quick reply.
“What is it that you mean? I don’t understand Aeria, please explain.” I said. The answers she gave were more confusing than the reasons he gave for leaving his business empire.
“I long for your love Sarce. You are the one that I longed for at night. I know what you feel and I know you are alone in this world. Each day I struggle to hide the love that I have for you and now you do this to me. Why? Tell me why.” The words were a shock to Sarce. Mrs. Davian was certainly attractive, she was beautiful and kind. Why would she be interested in him?
“Can you love a man who searches for truth? Do you love me for my wealth and power or do you love me for who I am? Love is a confusing emotion and I wish that I could comfort you. What can I do? It is not as though you can travel with me.” Sarce answered but suddenly realised what he had said.
“I love you for who you are. I know the true figure that lies within your soul and I long to hold you in my arms. I am resigning as Project Manager and I am going to travel with you. As your love.” She said.
“Then it is done.” Sarce said.

Aeria’s face beamed with delight at Sarce’s reply. He stood up and took her in his arms. Together, their love connected and they felt happiness and joy fill each others souls as they held each other. This would be news to the staff and representatives of Sarcial Enterprise. He would have to notify the public of the resignation of Aeria Davian along with his resignation.

There was a knock at the door and Sarce kissed Aeria before beckoning the visitor in. It was the new owner of Sarcial Enterprise. He was short and lacking in stature but was certainly smart and organised. Sarce wondered what he wanted. Perhaps he wished to gain an acquaintance with his new office. Then he would be free to do so.

“What is that you want?” Sarce asked.
“I wish to know where all of the files are kept so that I use them at a later date.” The man replied.
“Very well, Mrs. Davian organised the files so she knows this better than I do. She will explain where the files are kept.” Sarce replied.

He left the room just as he saw Aeria look back at him and smile. He returned the smile. It was now 1537hrs. In less than two hours, Sarce would announce his resignation to the world. But first, Sarce had to buy a new starship and some new clothing. He would also have to buy Aeria a ring. An engagement ring.
