Prince of the Force
Chapter One
-----------------------

Nathaniel Somir, Jedi Master, sat silently within the temple he had built all those many years ago. He had built this temple with the sole purpose of training to defeat his father, and his father's minions. Now, however, that task was finally complete. His father was imprisoned, for likely the remainder of his life, and most of his followers had been either converted or rounded up and also imprisoned.

Nathaniel had trained Jedi for many more years that one would guess, based solely upon his appearance. He was far older than his looks would let on. Some force or another had chosen to bless, or curse, his form with a slow rate of decay. Since he reached the age of maturity he had seen very little in the way of aging, and had felt even less.

These training grounds had served him as a home, when he had none. He was a Prince, by birth and right, but had not claimed that title in a very long time. In some circles he was called "Prince of the Force" a laughable title which had earned him resentment and praise in the same breaths.

Now he stood, victorious in his quest, with a lack of further direction. He had not been able to visit this temple in quite some time now, due to the occupation of this planet by his father's forces. Now he stood within it's grand hall and looked down upon the council floor. At one time this hall had been used by a council of Jedi that Nathaniel had founded. It had been used as a secret meeting place to harness and focus the power of a chosen few to stand against the maniacal tyranny of a Dark Lord of the Sith.

The council chamber now sat empty, the halls no longer filled with life or energy. It was as though with his victory he had lost his purpose. He would go on, yes, but what future contribution would ever stand against the destruction of the Dark Lord's Empire?

Perhaps the time had come to reform the Order of the Jedi Star. It had lain dormant since it's council's all but destruction at the hands of the Dark Lord and his minions of chaos. Far to long now had these halls remained empty. The rooms of this place needed filling, with life, energy, and determination only Jedi could supply.

Who would answer his call?

Time would tell.

Ganner had traveled across the galaxy at as swift a pace as possible after recieving the call of his Master. He was so greatly pleased to feel his master's touch once more. He had feared that his master had perished at the hands of the Dark Lord's minions upon the planet Vjun.

His fears, now, were proven to have been felt in vein.

Ganner's small personal ship, the Dark Eagle, set down upon the planet Yavin IV. As it was with his master, it had been a very long time since Ganner had set foot upon this planet and even longer since he had set foot within the Temple of the Order of the Jedi Star. As a child he had been trained by the Jedi Master Somir. Trained to become a hand against the forces of Darkness.

Ganner had come to realize early on that few had the insight and knowledge of their foe as did Nathaniel Somir. He had been raised by the former Dark Lord of the Sith, much of that time spent in the former Imperial Palace under the watchful eye of the former Emperor Palpatine. He had been surrounded by darkness yet, somehow, his light had shown through.

He was, in fact, the one for whom this temple had been named. It was true that some called Nathaniel Somir the "Prince of the Force". Many more, however, called him the "Jedi Star" for the simple reason that his light could not be quenched by the darkness which surrounded him.

He was truly a vision of a Jedi. Strong, yet humble, brave, yet cautious, caring, yet objective. Nathaniel Somir had truly been an inspiring force in the young Jedi's life. It was for that reason that Ganner followed him so willingly and without question.

Ganner Rhysode, Jedi Knight, moved silently into the Temple. His eyes caught glinting points of light upon the walls which shone like a starfield in the distance. It was awe inspiring, as it had been each time he had seen it.

Moving slowly, he thought about his future. Why had his master said it was time to make a change?

Only Nathaniel Somir could answer that question.
