Bridge of Star Destroyer Maker
Kamon sat in the command chair of the fast TDY Industrial designed Tholatin-class Star Destroyer that was given to the Tholatin Republic. The TDY Industrial Company was known for having some good designs. This ship was one of them.
Fast enough to take on hit-and-run missions effectively, and strong enough to engage in fleet combat, it was exactly what the Republic had asked for. A strong ship able to take on large missions and small ones. The mission it was on now was a mission in the middle.
Recently, the Republic had been getting contacts on their radar from just inside their space. They had never been able to see what the contact was, or get any ships there fast enough to engage it. The Maker, under Kamon’s command, had been ordered to investigate.
Normally Kamon would have left this to one of the Commodores, or maybe Admiral Horn. However, he decided he wanted to go on the mission with the rest of them. He didn’t think it would do any harm. It’s not like the contact could destroy the Maker.
If Kamon didn’t know any better, he would have said this mission was child’s play. He knew better though and would never believe that any mission was child’s play. All missions could be harder than first glance. He’d just have to see.

Radon sat in his new office, in a new chair. It wasn’t much different than the old one except it was a little more spacious. He smiled slightly as he thought about what his father would say of him working for a Republic. His father would go ballistic. It was a good thing his father didn’t know.
For all Radon knew, his father was still working for an Empire out there somewhere. He wasn’t sure where, and frankly he didn’t care. His father could do whatever he wanted. They may have the same name, but Radon Mont Sr. and Radon Mont Jr. were two different people.
His comm. beeped and he clicked the talk button. He didn’t know what it was, but if it was important he had to know.
“Yes?”
“Sir, there’s a runner here to see you.”
“Send him in.”
Radon was ex-Navy, so when the man walked in, he knew who he was. Radon smiled and stood. He offered his hand to the navy commander.
“Commodore Perry, how nice of you to drop in. To what do I owe the pleasure?”
“Admiral Mont. I came to ask for some advice.”
“Well then. Take a seat and talk away.”
Radon sat back down in his chair and motioned for Perry to take a seat. When Perry took his seat and began to talk, Radon put his fingers together and listened.
“Sir, Prince Vondiranach took over the border mission. I don’t think that was wise on his part. If anything happens out there, we may not get there in time.”
“Prince Vondiranach is fully capable of taking care of himself and the people around him. He knows what he’s doing.”
“I know, sir. That’s not the problem. The problem is, what if something happens here? What if some of these senate members become antsy and something happens?”
“Nothing will happen like that. The Geonosians have settled down enough. The Sekotians haven’t done anything that could bring harm to the Republic.”
“I know they haven’t. That’s what worries me. The Sekotians are known to be somewhat volatile. They’re bound to do something eventually and Prince Vondiranach is the only one that can calm them down.”
“Nothing’s going to happen Commodore.”
Radon could hear the man audibly sigh at the prospects of these things happening. Radon smiled a little. The man would be a good diplomat when he retired. Radon would always have more experience even though the two were almost the same age. That’s what happens when you leave the Navy.
“Probably not. I guess I’m a little too worried. I’m sorry to bother you, sir. I need to get going.”
“Ok, Commodore. I’ll see you later.”
The Commodore stood and saluted Radon. Out of respect, Radon returned it. The man turned and left the room without saying another word. Radon smiled and sat back in his chair. It was just another day in the office.
