Kathol Sector – Exocron – Aing-Tii Temple – My Room

Bong……… Bong……… Bong……… Bong……… Bong………

5 AM.

Yes…, another brand new day has dawned, and time has come to get up. I have heard the big old bell for many years tolling to rouse the other monks and students. I, too, have shared in this duty to awaken the members of the Aing-Tii Temple.

I slowly awake from my slumber quite rested, even though the previous day’s activities were very strenuous and tiring. I just need a moment for meditation, then… I will get up and dress for the day’s activities.

After a few minutes, my eyes began to open and focus on the dimness of my room as I continue to listen to the quaint sound that is now starting to fade. I do enjoy listening to the sounds of the different bells the Temple uses.

My meditation always invokes my mind to remembering many moments from the past. No, not horrible things, but tender moments and harsh training with the members of this monk’s order. The family of the Aing-Tii Monks is a very tightly woven group of Exocron’s sentient beings – my people – my guardians - my friends.

Since long before I can remember, I have been in the care of the Aing-Tii Monks. They tell me that I was just a baby when they were told where to find me. Every waking minute has been a quest to learn more about my past and master all the wonders of the Aing-Tii Temple. It seems that there are so many secrets these monks hold sacred, but they took me under their wings, so to speak, to teach me all their ways. A truth seeking religion full of rituals, magic, ceremonies, celebrations, and learning the way of the Force is what the Aing-Tii necessitates as a way of life. The Force has served them well. And they the Force.

I can’t remember exactly it was when I started training to be a monk, maybe 6 or 7 years old. I would guess. That is the usual age for young apprentices to start training to be monks of the Aing-Tii. I don’t know my real age, but it doesn’t matter because I don’t even know my whole name either.

I just heard a woman who said that she was my mother on the Holocron say, “My little Freebro, we must go away, but we will come back for you someday. Please forgive us. The Aing-Tii monks are our friends, and they will take care of you for a while or until we return. Please be good and learn all you can from them. I… No, We… love you.”

Every time I watch the Holocron, I feel proud of my parents for some strange reason, though I don’t know them personally or intimately, but I’ve prayed many times that I would see them someday. I just wish that I could find them and show them what I have become. I only hope that my parents and grandfather would be proud of me for all that I have accomplished, too.

I’m now an Aing-Tii Monk Master Level 6. For almost a year now, I have held this title bestowed upon me by the Supreme Aing-Tii Monk Master with the full support of the High Council and the other Monks of the temple.

But still, I can’t help but think that I still have a long way to go in the Order of the Aing-Tii. I only say this because the highest level of Master is 15, so I’m not even half-way there, yet. Some day, I will have my place on the Aing-Tii Council in the High Temple Sanctuary. But alas, there can be only one Level 15 Master. There are so many other masters of the temple who outrank me, so I feel that I’m in no way worthy of that level anyway. There are so many of my brother monks who are far more worthy of those positions than I!

<“Careful young monk..., you still have many tests to pass before you earn that status in the Temple. Remember, it takes a level 9 master to be on the Aing-Tii High Council,” Master Pa’Akk.> {Pa’ means monk or monks}

“Master Pa’Akk! You’re reading my mind again.” I spoke before I’d turned to face my master.

(I had sensed his presence as I always do with the other monks, but he is special to me.)

I turn to see Master Pa’Akk, my trusted guardian and friend, standing at my door. He was smiling at me with a twisted grin on his face. He was always sneaking up on me and loved it when he caught thinking strongly to my self.

<“Yes my young friend, but you did authorize me to guide you and check on you by any means. Did you not?” Master Pa’Akk>

“Yes Master, I did.” Freebro

<“Good. Now, practice your mind reading skills with me.” Master Pa’Akk>

<“Also, I have a question for you. What do you think about these things on my mind?” Freebro>

<“About your question, let us let the Council advise you of what is in store for you, both in your present day and for the future.” Master Pa’Akk>

<“Yes Master. I will wait and talk to the Council.” Freebro>

<“We must be going my young monk and eat before we start our day. Hurry. Finish dressing. We have much to do.” Master Pa’Akk>

I finish getting ready quickly and we leave together for the dining hall area.

The long halls are very wide corridors with a very high arching ceiling. Every area of the temple is adorned with historic carvings and statures of famous Exocronians and Aing-Tii monks from the ages past. The culture of this world ebbs from every corner with bright colors as if from a rainbow. I’m always amazed at how beautiful my world really is and pride swells up in my chest for this is my heritage and is rich with the love of the Aing-Tii Monks for our world and its people.

Kathol Sector – Exocron – Aing-Tii Temple – Great Dining Hall

Master Pa’Akk and I finally arrive at the Great Dining Hall within five minutes from my room. We can see many of the monks are already enjoying their breakfast, while a few others are still passing through the food line looking at the choices of delectable dishes. So we join the line.

After we make our choices of food, Master Pa’Akk leads the way to one of the large tables. He selected a table away form the other Pa’, so we can eat and talk more in privacy, I would guess.

As we approach the table, I can’t help but sense there’s something in the air. I’ve had this feeling on more than one occasion. Feels kinda’ like an eerie knowledge of things to come. Like a premonition.

As we talked, Master Pa’Akk opened up to me his feelings of my past years here in the Order of the Aing-Tii. I could feel that my old master was going to tell me some things that he had never told me before.

Master Pa’Akk, <“Pa’Freebro, you have been with us many years, and I must tell you that I am most pleased with the way you have conducted your self in all the training, the trials, and, yes, the testing.>

(He continues,) <‘Most of the other Pa’ thought, at first, that you may not be able to succeed in fulfilling the requirements for the rank of a master. But, I… I had faith in you. I knew you would join us as a Pa’ some day, and then onto master. You have made an old Pa’ very proud! >

{He is silent for a moment as I watch him intently. I know he is not finished, then he tells me something that I’m not quite ready to hear…}

Master Pa’Akk, <“Your mother wasn’t with us very long, but we all loved her. After her parents were taken by the slavers and killed, we took her into the Temple. I had been her mentor for several years. I had hoped that she would stay long enough to be a priestess {or Ka’}. But, that was only because she wanted to be a Jedi.”>

I’m stunned! And I blurt out!... Pa’Freebro, <“I thought you only knew of my parents from the Holocron… How do you know these things… About the Jedi? What and who are they? Friends? Enemies? No… not an enemy. Why would my mother want to be one of them?>

(I’m confused about this strange name – Jedi – and these events. There’s got to be a good explanation of all this… to settle my mind.)

Master Pa’Akk, (softly and slowly thought) <“Pa’Freebro, don’t be alarmed. All will be revealed soon. But, I will tell you this. Your grandfather’s name is Tomas, your father’s name is Freeborn, and mother’s name is Aseliya, and they were all Jedi. Nothing more can I tell you as I have been sworn to silence on this matter. So,... please don’t ask me any more. I’m so sorry my young friend...”>

(Hurting inside) I look deeply into Master Pa’Akk’s large eyes and see the tears staring to form. I know he is telling me the truth.

I turn my attention back to my plate and begin to eat. I know in my heart that he loves me as if I’m his own son, so I will respect his request and remain silent.

I ponder on what Master Pa’Akk has told me for the rest of the meal to myself and wait for my master to finish.

Almost out of reflex, we both arise from the large table with our trays in hand and head toward the dish drop off counter. Master Pa’Akk looks at me for a moment, then… he tells me...

Master Pa’Akk, <“Pa’Freebro. I’ve been assigned the task to escort you to the Temple Council Chamber for a meeting with the High Council Members. Please follow me.”>

<“Yes, my master.” Pa’Freebro>

We leave the Great Dining Hall and walk toward the Temple.
