MC-40 Raven's Heart
Vortex System
"Admiral," the young Mon Cal Officer, Ensign Dubar, called in his normal, guttural accent, "the reports are ready." Admiral Mnar peered over through his Abjekian Warmask's eyepieces, the tinted texture preventing the junior officer from reading his superior's eyes, or their statements.
The white helm bobbed up and down in a nod, and he took the flimsiplast that the Mon Cal was holding outstretched for him. Quickly he began leading over the aurebic text sprayed across it, printed neatly from one of the ship's computers.
The reports were basic and simple, routine for all jumps, listing the various public lanes, the most direct military routes, coordinates, pirate activities, potential hazards and so on. Seeing as he was just one starship with a handful of starfighters, the probability of error was nine percent, probabilty of danger seven.
A bit higher than he'd hoped, but Admiral Mnar was pressed for time. According to the chrono he was already seven minutes off schedule due to engine failure. He'd had it resolved a bit quicker than usual, but this still was not a great way to conduct his first outing.
One thing had caught his attention though.
He'd not seen one of those since the Vong War, at least not in the scale that it was read at, sixty seven percent ABH, or above black hole radium.
Interesting indeed.
But it posed no problems, the route they'd chosen would completely pass it by, but it would be important to note for after the fact.
His orders were strict though, and relatively simple. He was to fly to the Anobis system, then to Ord Mantell for a recon/routine surveillance mission, launch a series of sorties to establish a feel for the territory, and then return to Mon Calamari for refueling, rearming, restaffing, and reassignment.
What Teebo wanted was beyond the admiral, but he had no qualms, he would get to be close to the Chiss. Maybe there would be some shots exchanged...that caused him to grin behind his helm.
Elegark looked up from the flimsiplast, handing it back before swiveling his command chair that he might observe the bridge. Everyone seemed more or less...new. That caused a bit of distress in the man.
He had specifically requested that the Raven's Heart be outfitted with veterans, preferably of the Second Vong War or any of the Jutraalian Wars, that he might operate the ship at maximum efficiency. But he would settle for this, afterall the Republic was rather lax in giving him a command position, he really did not have any right to complain.
But he would protest it anyway, but through proper channels.
"Are we ready to depart Ensign?" Elegark asked, turning back to him. The fish-like alien nodded his confirmation, his enormous head bobbing up and down like some kind of child's toy.
The admiral blew out a sigh, pre-mission adrenaline hitting his belly. "Well then, take us out."
MC-40 Raven's Heart
Anobis System
The petite version of the bigger Mon Cal Cruisers screamed silently out of hyperspace, as if thrown from the stars, stopping suddenly and abruptly. The ship moved into cruising speed, pulling the hundreds of tons of durasteel and electronics forward.
Admiral Mnar peered out through the bridge, a bit of excitement spilling over him at the thought of being out once again, even if it was on a peaceful patrol mission. But he was going to be near Chiss...maybe that was why Teebo had put him in charge of this mission...maybe he expected some kind of an engagement.
That would be more than excellent, and the primal, hunter's instinct in him yearned to do battle with the blue-skins. He tried to supress that though, battle with them would come in time.
Now was not the time.
