Xbox 360: Gears Of War...

Kick. Ass.

If you haven't tried this game, then I suggest you do.

If you want a gritty, realistic (or as realistic as possible) shooter-type, along the lines of over-the-shoulder view perspective, ala Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, with the graphic intensity of the latest in games design, with interesting squad play and a gun with mounted chainsaw... then you've found it.

I bought it, as this game appeals to my tastes. It reminds me of the old Space Marines, and I love the general designs of the characters (with their bulky power armor), and the big weapons, and alien scum that needs to be purged from the face of all existence(!).

Not to mention it has a two player co-op mode, where you can play through the storyline (offline), whether it be split screen or LAN; and that's rare to have these days, save for Halo, as the majority of 360 games coming out these days require a link up of multiple 360's, which sucks balls.

As stated, graphics are intense, the gameplay is shiny and polished, and the realistic use of cover (lest you stand alone, ala Halo, and be blasted to bloody, little pieces) is a great addition to the genre.

Go.

Play.

Enjoy.

Fuck you. Makes me want an Xbox 360/PS3/Wii.

I'm still considering picking up an old school Xbox now that the price is going down... 360 et al. are a bit rich for me still. :(

IIRC, Gears of War is coming free with 360s right now (maybe it's something else?). Sounds intense, though!

I've been playing Unreal Tournament 2004 on my laptop - picking up Halo, soon, too. Sounds like my kind of game.

Damn you, encouraging me to buy something I can't afford! Any idea if there is/going to be a computer version (available for Macs, no less!)?

No computer version in sight any time soon. Sorry, Demo.

I don't have a 360 and don't plan on getting one but I've had my eye on this game for months. It's been hyped up to be the next Halo for a while now. I want to play it soo bad.

Fuck. You'd think Microsoft would want to release a PC version... couldn't be hard, I'll wager Xbox programming is based to some extent on Windows. But I guess they don't want to hurt sales of their console.

S'all good: I can wait. Hell, it took me this long to get UT, I can wait for Gears to come out for PC, right?

Same dude behind UT is the brains behind the new MMORPG "Vanguard".

My room-mate and I plan on the Wii and PS3 for the new year and Gears of War is first on my list (thanks in no small part to the promo advert which used Gary Jules "Mad World" layered over the brutal, run-for-your-life-and-frag-some-shit background).

Just watched that advert again on YouTube. I had seen it, didn't realize at the time it was for GoW. Graphics seem pretty impressive (if that is a true representation of the game).

Good stuff... is it available for PS3 as well, then?

C'mon, would video game publishers really do that; make a commercial that makes the game look better then it actually is?

Haw!

It actually is pretty spot on, where the graphics are concerned...

Hell. The characters even have creases in their clothing during gameplay - not that I'm really looking, what with a horde of aliens trying to kick my ass down.
