During a trippy late night conversation with Zell last night, we decided that it would be cool to have a TRF Ventrilo server where everyone could actually talk to each other....

Thoughts? Anyone else have a working mic that is familiar with vent?

I know a bunch of you people play WoW so you have to have Vent. We'll try to set up some type of server tomorrow. Would be cool to actually talk outside of AIM.

I tried to get a TRF Teamspeak going a while back, but my entire home network is firewalled to shit so I couldn't host it. But I seem to recall there being a bit of interest in the concept at the time.

I was searching the forums to see what the response has been in the past to this type of thing since Zark mentioned he'd tried... Hyfe brought up Skype which might be a worthy alternative also... I don't know if you can be connected to more than one person with Skype though, it sounds like it might be just for "phone calls".

IIRC, you can have up to 10 people in a conference call in Skype. I've used it before and it seemed fine.

Yahoo Instant Messenger supports voice chat rooms. Not sure if AIM does.

Skype is good too, though. :)

You can conference call on Skype, but someone would have to take the initiative to call up other members and stuff, whereas on Vent you could just connect to the server and talk to whoever else is on.

I believe other than Skype, IRC is the only other thing that's been suggested.

I've got ventrilo and a working mic that I use for DOTA. Dandy idea if you ask me. I'd personally probably idle in it all the time when I've got my headset hooked up.
