Okay. So I just when through all my old burned CDs and dug out some of the songs that I actually remember... listening to them now, one wonders how some of these were EVER "cool".

By cool, I mean overplayed mainstream crap, btw.

London Calling - The Clash
Mad World - Tears For Fears & Gary Jules

That's about it...

I think the Darkness are absolutely the most hilarious band in the world.

I would never spend money on one of their CDs but I do get a kick out of them.

I think they are funny but at the same time I fucking hate them because so many people actually take them SERIOUSLY and say they are one of the best bands of all time and it just bugs the hell out of me.

And lets not forget the hillarity of Coheed and Cambria.

I only listened to some of those, when it comes to music I try to acquire variety on my CDs. So I can alternate between styles of music pending on mood.

Yeah but on the other hand, an equal number of those people who take them seriously are Radiohead fans and shit who got all offended because the Darkness were calling themselves the biggest band in Britain. Well obviously they're a fucking joke, there's no reason to get pissed off at them. They'll never be a quarter of the band Radiohead is, Justin Hawkins isn't even on the same planet as Thom Yorke in terms of songwriting. Anyone who takes them and their posturing seriously deserves to be pissed off by it.

Yeah, Coheed is hilarious too. With the songs about comic books and the fat lead singer who sings in a falsetto while the cheesy metal solos go in the background. What's even funnier is they can actually play. How classically metal; a band with technical skill that is otherwise a complete joke...
