This was brought up in one of the books but Grand Admiral Pelleaon dissmissed it out of hand saying they were defeated by a bunch of rebels what chance would they have stood against the Yuuzhan Vong-I think the Empire would have stood a good chance but then again they were driven by Palpatine's force powers-this may not have made a difference to the Yuuzhan Vong war machine considering their blindness to the fprc and their ability to counter force aided combat feats so quickly

The empire was practically destroyed wen the Yuuzhan Vong invaded and they ended up fighting the New Republic.

Well... I feel better knowing that knowledge.
But, I think if Palpatine was still ruling, and the Rebels had been swatted away, then the Vong wouldn't have had much of a chance.

What? If the Rebels were gone that would mean the Empire would've had the Death Star II at the very least, depending on when the Rebels could splatted. If they got beat at A New Hope the Empire would probably have two of the beasts when the Vong came, maybe more.
The Empire would've if they had crushed the rebels and Palpatine was still alive.

The Vong would have been crushed if Palpatine were still alive and they had a Death Star, beside much of the Empire's forces were lost fighting the Rebels and later the New Republic. However if we are speaking of the Imperial Remnant during the NJO, then no, the Remnant would have been raped and they would have run home with sore asses.
