Olympic athletes might deserve to be paid as much as all the pro athletes get paid, but thats as fas as I go with the sports star salaries. Like the asshat said, they contribute nothing to society. If theres so much money floating around out there in sports leagues where they can spend 5 mill a year on some guy throwing/kicking a ball or slaping a puck around, then they should be sued by every charity, under funded hospital, and schools that cant afford up to date materials in the country. So $$$$ head does not need another olympic sized pool in his stadium sized backyard when Jimmy cant get his broken leg properly fixed and his school books regard segregation as an up to date concept.

I wish the money would go to such things, but if the players dont end up with it, the owners keep it all anyways and at least they make donations.

No. Because the main reason ticket prices are so high is because the owners have to pay the players. If the players took a pay cut, ticket prices could (in theory) go down.

Whether they would or not is an entirely different question.

LMAO! Wrong! The owners will charge as much as their fans are willing to pay. Capitalism buddy, thats how it goes.

And right now, fans are willing to pay. Maybe not as many as they might like, but enough. If the players were paid less, what incentives would owners have to bring ticket prices down?

None, they would keep prices the same and find new ways to spend their money. I hate that capitalism works that way, but it does.
