i like float on a lot. but like other modest mouse 'fans' it is the only song i have heard and base my entire knowledge of the band on it. i talk about how 'indie' they are even though 'good news' was released on a major label.
actually, talking shit about a pretty sunset is a fine song, but its the only one ive heard off of long drive. maybe ill put that hmv gift card to good use.

They used to be straight up indie, but now they're going mainstream. Most people whine and bitch and moan about now that they're popular their music sucks, but I think the new shit is just as good as the old.

I don't listen to indie, so that doesn't really help me much. Any particular tracks you'd recommend, old or new ?

Yeah, thanks Demos.
I'd suggest 3rd Planet, Dark Center of the Universe, Tiny Cities Made of Ashes, Paper Thin Walls, Custom Concern, Tundra/Desert, Exit Does Not Exist, She Ionizes & Atomizes, Talking Shit About A Pretty Sunset, and Space Travel is Boring.
Just to start you off.

I only have the Moon & Antartica and Good News for People Who Like Bad News, though I've heard a good deal of their other older stuff as well. Modest Mouse has always been good, and still are.
Think red neck radiohead.
