When I first went to see this movie, I thought it might suck since Tom Cruise was in it. After seeing it though, I loved it. One of the best movies I've seen. Especially after my disappointment when I saw Revolutions.
The Last Samurai is an awesome movie and you should see it. In fact, I'm going to try and see if I can see it again.
Yes Revolutions ruined my passion for the Matrix..My friend said that "The Last Samurai" was a good movie but Tom Cruise screwed the movie over..They should of had someone else to play the role..possibly a unknown actor.
not surprising, since Japanese is a really hard language to learn... Anime freaks besides, it's got alot of inflictions and such that doesn't roll of the western tongue easily.. Ask any person who thought it was cool to major, or minor, in it for college :)
Besides, Cruise doesn't seem the lingual type... now Glenn Close, she's the accent and language queen... her and Elvira :-p ole Elvira speaks over 13 languages... fluently I might add, instead of just knowing a phrase or two...
Just saw it today, very enjoyable. I thought Cruise did a good job, myself.
I would have been disappointed if he didn't have trouble. His character was only there for what, six-seven months? No way he could learn the intricacies of a language that quickly.
Tom Cruise is an underrated actor that people put down because of his popularity. And that's a hetrosexual male saying that. He's been passed over for an Academy Award FAR too many times for the number of excellent films he's been in. Rain Man and The Color of Money spring to mind.
About Samurai I have only one thing to say: Pretty @#%$ Cool.
