Actually that last one, with the Tie fighter shooting is the perfect example of the matting lines showing.

I played Empire with the Interactual DVD software that comes with the movies, and instead of pixelated, it's blurry.

Blurry? pixillated? ANH's the only one I havent watched yet, and the other two seem quite nice.... especially scenes like in Jabba's palace that are horrible in older copies I have seen, in the dvd they are very clear. Of course, I was watching the movies on a smallish tv, but.... I was even watching the dvd rip of ROTJ on my computer, which generally always is of lesser quality, and it still looked much better than anything before. You are right, it's still not up to modern day dvd quality standards, but like has been said before the films *are* old...


and speaking of the jabba's palace scene, what is with that flying silver spherical thing in front of the band? I've never noticed it before and it looks kinda weird.... I think its a microphone?


another thing that bugs me about that scene, is that Chewbacca is only on a leash around his neck when he is brought in by Boussch. Real convincing, a Wookiee who did not wanna be caught let a bounty hunter not even half his size lead him around unbound with a stick and a chain.... not a lot of attention to logic there.

Maybe it was a super-duper neurolectrifying leash.

I know this thread is kind of dead and this comment is after the fact, but Kas you took those screenshots of the computer right?

You've going to notice the pixels on a computer because I'm pretty sure the resolution isn't the same as it is on TV. Also, the distance you're seeing the image at is different; you're more than an arms length from the screen when watching it on a television.

But there's nothing like watching it on in high def.

Dogman, I don't have these pixilation problems with other movies that I've taken shots of, most recently being Dark City.
