Old Republic novel. I saw it at the bookstore yesterday, picked it up, and read the entire thing in 5 hours while I was at work. And I really liked the book too. I don't recognize the author, but I think she/he did a fine job.

The book details Darth Bane's life history basically, from his human self, to his entrance into the Sith, his ascension through power, and how he came to adopt the system of 2. I'll stop there, and leave the best parts to the viewers. But Ruusan is now greatly detailed, and shows a lot of very interesting stuff.

I wanted to read this book. I've read Bloodlines and Tempest of the Legacy series and while I liked Bloodlines, Tempest was..ehh... The infighting of the heroes puts a bad taste in my mouth.

You'd think after everything they'd gone through, they would stop wondering if they could trust each other or not.

To get the full picture of "Bloodlines and Tempest" you need to read the first part of the series, Betrayal.

I agree though Omnae, the infighting is somewhat depressing. It's slightly tempered by the fact that I have hated Jacen Solo since the middle of the NJO.

I've read the all the Legacy books to date and am very dissapointed with the direction the Jedi have taken. They have basically recreated the old Order. Have they learned nothing?

Joren: Do humans in real life ever learn anything? Why should SW be any different?

Probably Lucas trying to direct the authors into going back to 'old school', where he thinks people think it's cool...

Darth Bane irks me.

But maybe it's due to the newbs I've seen in the past who try and play him? Perhaps. *strokes chin*

I didn't see him as that much of an all powerful Sith during that Jedi comic series, can't remember what it was called, but it focused around the kids who joined the Jedi/Sith - weird names, like Leaf or something.

Is any of the EU cool anymore? I haven't read past the NJO series, but the plots seem to be getting lamer and lamer. Bring back Thrawn and the Imperial Remnant... that was good reading.

It stopped being cool about a decade ago. You know, like right up until the rumors of a prequel started to abound.

In all seriousness, I still have hope for the Computer Game market.

I didn't know Tempest was out yet, I actually originally went there to B&N looking for it, but not finding it or an empty space, went for Darth Bane instead.

And Bane, I was sort of dissapointed that he wasn't as powerful as he was made to be seen as by his descriptions in the other books.
