spammer/flood attack update

The spammer used 15 accounts and more than 20 different IPS to subvert both the post flood safety check and our own internal Spam Detection System (SDS).

Due to the sophistication of the attack, these are very hard to prevent and only the most technical of people can do this. We are in the process of further enhancing security to prevent future attacks like this from happening.

MBA (non-strict) and setting posting limits can help prevent attacks like this currently. Please feel free to email me, scrosley@ezboard.com with any suggestions pertaining to security -- we will be more than happy to consider any ideas you may have.

All the accounts that took part in the flood attack have been banned -- admins: you can delete or move these posts to an archive, as you see fit.

I would like to personally apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. Thanks for being so patient as we addressed the situation.

Thanks for trying, but you make it out like there people are smart, which they obviously are not.

It seems simple enough, just prevent people from posting more then once a minute per IP adress, not account. That way it'd take forever for a spam attack to get underway, and by then the admins could I.P. ban them.

Well, we're MBA, so somewhat normal.

Dolash, my bestest buddy Dolash, the guy used 20 different IP's, as Ahnk pointed out to you, as well. This was a very sophisticated attack, and no normal idiot could carry this out.
