Yet so far. Was playing a Game of SWR as the Alliance, and almost had Coruscant conquered (it was a capital capture or destruction option game only), I had one force in orbit that had knocked out the enemy guardian fleet, and had 4 Liberators en route with enough starfighters and troops to finish him off, when suddenly, BLAM, game over. In my excitement, I hadn't left any ships to protect my capital. I still haven't won a game of SWR playing as the Alliance.

Kraken, the Alliance, IMO, is much easier to win with than the Empire, espcially in a capital only game, in a larger galaxy.

A few moves of you HQ keeps the Empire guessing, while Coruscant is a stationary target.

Maybe we should play over the internet sometime...

I usually love to play with the Empire. I just got careless. The main reason that I love to play as the Alliance is that they have more characters capable of recruitment, so I get the people who do research much faster.

The Alliance is way, way easier. I have never won a game as the Empire, since I have a hard-on for massive fleets.

It's not hard to win as the Empire. It's just not very much fun.

Just build ten Carrack Cruisers and ten prove droids, and get them searching the rim. When they find the Rebel base, jump on it. Chances are, they won't have enough ships yet to fight back.

Though Brutus is right. As the alliance, all you need is ships and you can hit Coruscant.

yeah I just won a game recently as the Alliance, and within a thousand days too, a record for me (it took me 8,000 days as the Empire to beat the Alliance, on a small galaxy, with HQ only victory. I had to conquer every damn last alliance planet out on the Outer-Rim to win.)

I am also using the special forces for the first time very effectivley. Used to, I only used Diplomacy, Subdue Uprising, and that was it. More recently, I started to do sabotage, and finally I'm using espionage, create uprising, using decoys, and using espionage on my own planets in order to capture enemy characters.

What is it? Old, created in 1998. How much is it now? Depends. It's no longer in production. You can either try to get a copy off of E-bay, prices varying of course, or you could pay 40$ to get it special ordered from LucasArts.

Even with the advent of Battlegrounds, it's still the best Star Wars Real Time Strategy game, at least in my opinion. Takes a while to learn though, even with the manual.

The manual is fucking massive. But it's very good, and it's what a manual should be... minimissions to get you used to the game, descriptions of everything you can do... crazy.

I never really got the feel for Rebellion. I wasn't good enough at multitasking, so I always had the damn droids doing mines and garrisons (which is stupid, I know), and my missions never worked. I could use Democracy and Recruitment, and occasionally espionage would work, but all of my saotage/capture/etc. missions failed.

It pissed me off.

Oh, and the game was to slow, so I put the speed on superhigh, and couldn't keep track of things. Rebellion is one of the best SW games ever made (I still wonder why Rebellion II was never created...), but it's a lot more in depth than most RTS. It's fun, but it takes getting used to.
