ugggh... I hate the avatars. I get enough of that with my wife's Wii.
And when I want to view my friend's list, I don't want to see a bunch of stupid avatars/mii's pissing about a game icon. I want to see a list of who's online and what they are doing at a glance.
Other than that. It's ok, I guess.

Radical change, eh? I haven't been on Live in... 3-4 months? I don't even know anymore it's been that long. I need to get my connections worked out, and will do so when I move out with Mel into our own place - then I'll be able to get back into the online gaming...
It does make most games rather dull without it, I have to admit.

It's very microsoft - and in that I mean that a bunch of ad-executives, none of whom actually spend any time gaming, thought it looked pretty and would sell more copies thus raising their profit share.
It has some, a very small portion of, worthwhile "upgrades" although, even these, in my opinion are only really parallels of what was already there instead of making real advances.
And I have to agree, the "me" Wii copycat is super gay. I always liked the little, simple avatar images - not these over-crowded, over-personalized monstrosities. You like cats, robots and guns, I get it... but I don't need to be reminded of that every single time I bring you up on my friends list. I am never, I promise, going to say, "Oh, who was that guy I played Gears II with... the one who liked guns, cats and robots?" And then realize, "Oh, I can just examine every single cluttered avatar in my f-list looking for the guy who fits the bill."
One thing I think is/will be pretty neat; the gameshows which you will be able to participate in with other gamers, your friends included.

I've spent about an hour gaming since the new update.
And about eight hours streaming movies from Netflix.

Avatars = Stupid and lame, with very little customization. Bad idea, and just a mii rip-off.
New Dashboard = Too much visual fluff. I just press the X-Box button to get the stripped down version every time.
Streaming videos = The only good thing from the update. Since HDDVD failed, this is really the best route they could've gone to provide HD movies and compete with the PS3 as a media platform. It lets them have that quality, with far more accessibility.

I don't have a Netflix subscription but thinking about it. I was hoping to be able to download some free stuff like movie trailers.. I was looking for the new Star Trek trailer but I couldn't find it. I guess I have to settle for seeing it on my laptop.
I hate the navigation because as I am pushing the thumbstick right, right, right, to get to the individual "box" I want when I accidentally move the thumbstick up and it takes me to a new selection. So I have to go back down, then right, right, right, right...uggh... it is NOT big-thumb friendly!
heh.
